I'm going to be getting a pair of North American Giant Millipedes next month and am trying to figure out how to make a viv. I have an 18x18x18 exo-terra tank. Any good ideas on what to use and what else can go in there? Thanks

Lessee are they N americanus ? if so I would put in some small dwarf ferns and in the center I would have a large piece of decaying hardwood at least a six inch square. Substrate would be a mixture of peat and black loamy woods dirt. A few oak leaves.
Other inverts would have to be some pillbugs and a few sow bugs. Maybe even a snail or two. One corner would have to be for sure a piece of pillow moss and the corner opposite that would be a piece of slate.

Just my ideas :)

oooh! When you do finally decide on a setup, post pictures! I like what John's suggested!!

Do they like mini caves? Maybe some slate, on top of other slate bits to give em some areas to crawl on/in/under :)

Yes I agree pics are a must.
I would very much like to see the setup when you are done.
Ya know it's funny the only terrium I have has an assortment of sundew and pitcher plants and a few butter worts . This terrium keeps the phorid fly population down in the animal/invert room. Can we say biological control :yesnod: . My wife likes the setup as she gets to see the plants eat.

Well I didn't get to pick up the millipedes. Yes, John, they were N. americus. I did get to see the Giant African millipedes at Hamburg this past Saturday. I thought those were awesome. Thanks for the ideas John. I am planning on this project at some point. Right now I just got done doing a fire bellied toad tank. I am planning on going to the White Plains January 5th. Maybe then? I was planning on using the exo-terra tank or a 10 gallon. Which would be more acceptable? Thanks. When I do get it done, there will be pics. Just need a little more time.

Lessee exo terra or 10 gallon....hmmmm...that all depends on you and what you like better. This is your project so the ball is in your court. Myself I personally like ten gallons as they are cheap and can be made to look totally cool. My carnivorous plant tank is a 20 gallon standard size.
I wish you the best when you start it out :D
