    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok so I want to build a snake rack out of ABS or Expanded PVC but Im not sure what size sheet I should get. So Im looking for the input of people who have used either 1 of these materials to build a 41qt rack. Would a 4'x8' sheet be enough to build the rack to hold 4 tubs?

I would not use ABS for a 41 qt. rack as I think it is too flexible. 1/2" expanded PVC at a minimum, IMO. You can use thinner material for the sides but if you're trying to use one sheet of material then it should be 1/2" expanded PVC.

Either way, you are not going to be able to build a four level rack from a single sheet unless you don't mind using just strips of material for the sides and back.

Even a 4x10 sheet (which is a common size with expanded PVC) won't be enough to build a rack with solid sides and a back.

I not long ago built a rack and used the design that is used at this site.

northeastsnakes.com/racks.html

I was able to build a 10 level using 1/4" expanded pvc. I was able to get the supplier to even cut it to size and had pvc left over for my next project. I think I started with two sheets, but for a 4 level one should be plenty.

I was also using 41 qt. tubs. I have noticed that the 41 qt tubs come in a couple of formats. The ones I used measured 18" X 34" at the bottom if I remember correctly.

That design is open sided. However, even with the rack I put together being 10 levels, I was very pleased with the outcome.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for you.

i have a 2 wide 15qt rack out of 1/8" abs and its very flimsy. i also have another 1/8" abs rack made by dragons for you that is tripled floored and it works great.

however, if when i build my next rack, im going PVC. better material and a little easier to work with. abs is hard to shave for exact fits. it tends to shoot little pieces of material every where.
