    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I ordered some stuff like 3 months ago-a thermostat and extra doors. Well he shipped them to me a while a go, no problems. But today I get another shipment from him of the same doors and thermostat. I never payed for the second shipment, I never even ordered it. I would love to just keep the stuff, but I never gave him any money for it. I tried calling and all I get is an answering maching that's full so I can't leave a messege. Anyone know how I can get a hold of him? I'd like to pay for the thermostat but I don't need the extra doors and I want to return them to him.

Calling Jeff is hit or miss. He might answer might not. You would be better off sending an email with a bold title like "I OWE YOU MONEY". Then explain and give your phone number. It took me 2 weeks 2 get ahold of him by phone and I think I just got lucky!
 
That sounds about right. Back when I had placed an order I sent multiple emails and placed numerous calls.

I did not receive a return call until the day I flat out said "send us our money back.... NOW."

Got a call back within a few hours......
 
I've never called him....for some reason I'm one of the lucky ones and he's always responded to my emails right away.

I must say, it's nice to see someone being so flat-out honest....I can't help but think there's too many folks who would have just kept the stuff and waited to see if Jeff caught the mistake...kudos to you. :)
 
Calling him for some reason has never been a problem. He's always answered the last 3 times I called him before to place an order. But ofcourse now that he sent me something on accident I can't get ahold of him. I would just go to his website and place an order for a thermostat to pay for this one. If he does not read the order correctly, he will just send me another and I've accompilshed nothing. Honesty is best, nothing good comes from stealing. I'm gonna try to email him with the subject I OWE YOU MONEY!-That's a good idea, thanks Wild Bill :) I'll let you know how it works out, thanks for taking your time to respond to this.-MUCH appreciated!
 
Well, he may be out for the holiday weekend.....if you don't hear back from him, I'd try again on Monday. A lot of folks I know were heading out on trips to see family already today...
 
Yeah that's a good point also. I'll email him and wait 'till the middle of next week to hear from him then I'll try calling again. Thanks again :) I'll let you know how it works out.
 
The way Mr Roone is you woudl think he would be beating down your door for the cash.. Sorry but that dude just rubs me the wrong way...lol
 
??? Still no response from him??? Maybe out of town for the holiday???
 
And nothing yet.............I've never had this big of a problem giving $$$$ to someone.
 
I think you have made every effort to fix this problem. Just wait too see if he contacts you now. The ball is in his court, let him worry about it. Hang on to the stuff just in case, but otherwise I wouldnt worry about it anymore.
 
Send it back at his expense. Just drop it in a mail box without a return address:)
 
Well if anything I'll just ship it all back to him with a note describing the situation. I'm gonna email him again and try calling in the morning. I am honestly already using the thermostat because I was going to pay him. Maybe I'll just ship the extra doors back and leave him my phone number so he can call me and I can pay him for the thermostat???? I've never been in this situation before, you try to do the right thing but it's a pain in the butt.
 
LOL i ordered some books last year and then found out they werent what the person wanted. shipped them back, got a refund of my money and everything, and 4 months later got the books back with a note saying "could not deliver to recipient". sent them again, this time with a heads up to the co to look for them, 3 months later got them back AGAIN. co. said just keep them and the refunded money. weeeeiiiiiirrrrrdd! but i got to keep 4 worthless books and $200, so yeah lol
 
I give up. I'm either going to ship it all back or pay for it when I buy more cages from him.-If I can get ahold of him to buy more stuff. One way or the other, He will either get the $ or the product back.

I got ahold of him on an unrelated issue and passed on that you needed to get ahold of him and why. He does remember who you are from the order.

Why don't you give him a call, he is at the number on his web page right now.

Hope you get it resolved.
 
I guess I'll try calling again then. I'll call again on Monday/Tuessay when I get time. Thanks for telling him about this, I appreciate it :)
 
I called him this week to order more cages and tell him about the thermostat he sent me on accident. All is well and I can't wait to get my new cages from him :)
 
I have to say I agree with Matt on the "Boaphile". I ordered a rack from him back in August 05 and I didn't receive it until end of October. I called and emailed them NUMEROUS times and never received a response. I was almost to the point of asking for a refund when it arrived. He does have nice products but the time delay and lack of communication is not for me. I will buy my caging from someone else in the future....
 
I must still be one of the "lucky ones"....I ordered a rack from him in November, and when I realized that it could be coming about the time we would be leaving for vacation, I emailed Jeff, and received a response the next day that he had been having trouble getting some of his supplies because the place he normally got them from was damaged by Katrina, so it would be a bit late anyway.....I called him later, and got ahold of him on the first try, and he agreed to wait and ship my rack on the day I returned home, which he did.

I dunno why, but I've had great luck with him. :shrug01:
