I must have misunderstood what you typed
No worries, I'm sorry I wasn't clearer in who I was addressing, but if I did it by specific name, it might have gotten me for another warning point.
My only complaint was that I thought it was kind of odd to even ask webslave if this could be posted here whatever the reason being.
There's a discussion going on in the "About this site" forum, albeit going on slowly... about the traffic specific parts of the site get and who checks what and how often...
WebSlave has pretty much said that, while the site looks complex at the moment, and it leaves a lot of catagories looking as if they're unused, as traffic in them increases (and it has been from the looks of it, in bursts anyway), the breakdown will become more worthwhile in keeping things organized... The unfortunate side effect of this is that some forums don't get the traffic they really deserve at the moment, things everyone should at least read (or be aware of if they *want* to read it) end up sort of burried and not getting the exposure they deserve.
You and I are both pretty frequent participants and guests to the site and I'm pretty sure that you, like myself, probably try to check most if not all the forums at least once every day or two, if not more often but out of all the registered users of the site, I'd wager that we're in the minority and that most the individuals registered don't cruise by nearly as often or check nearly as thouroughly for items of interest to them... Since Neil wanted the most exposure possible (I think anyway), asking first and getting permission has allowed that...
And since half of us who have replied decided to get angry over nothing and explode on one another, I'd guess that the exposure is probably pretty complete, at least with the more frequent posters and lurkers.
I just got a bit upset because of:
1)The speed with which some people chose to jump on it THAT hard...
2)Some of the things that were being complained about... like accusing him of spamming the BOI to advertise his website... he's one of the site's supporters, he's got banner ads and frequently posts in the classifieds in order to advertise... he, like many others, has added a link in his signature that appears on every single post... He doesn't need to spam anything in order to let people know he's got a new website.
3)It wasn't something that people had good advance information on... If he'd done it without getting permission and the thread had been locked down and deleted or moved... and he posted it again... or three or four times after it's removal... I could see jumping all over him, but one innocent and friendly post half an hour after it's first appearance... Come on now.
