Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Correct me if this is wrong, but I don't believe the point of the BOI is for entertainment or for fun. Sure slinging mud, calling people names when they dont see your way, and bashing anyone for any reason is fun, but isn't that what the chat room is for? J/k

Really though, If it doesn't concern him he shouldn't be able to offer his advice. He has offended everyone on this site. Maybe some took it lighter than others, but he did say some very offensive things, not only degrading to the users, but telling someone how he drags people along through sarcasm and encouraging them to do the same.

Is that really what the BOI is missing? Not in my opinion

... and here it is!
I think the herp community is very fortunate to have a BOI.
I wish my other hobbies had access to a BOI. I bought a kayak, sent money to California, stupidly forgot to ask the seller's last name, and fretted for a couple of days worrying that I was ripped off. I even wrote Ritchie Luna about what to do! The seller sent the boat; he was a good guy. But without a BOI, how does one know?
ANYWAY, my point of view is:
that the BOI is more than a board of inquiry
that the BOI is a community
that like any community there is dissent
that this dissent is healthy
that people are and should be banned at times
that people should be allowed to apologize and return
and finally, that, regretfully I admit, the BOI is entertaining, and informative, and has taught me TONS about Internet/UPS (and other carriers) transactions.
AND OF COURSE
that it's not my call what to do, I just wanted to say I miss Neil's posts.

Neils opinions are Neils opinions. You can take it heavy or light, guess it depends on how thick the skin is.
It really is up to Rich if he wants to be generous enough to invite Neil back as he has been in a generous mood as of late (kingsnake) and burying hatchets, one never knows.
 
It is up to Rich indeed. Nothing we say about it here will change anything, but for those of you who are in support of Neil returning to freely post anywhere...how many times should someone be given chances? Neil was banned before, and Rich was nice enough to let him back then. I can't see Rich just saying "oh sure, come back buddy", but I guess we will see.

I do think that if we are going to continue this part of the discussion, we should start a thread in a more apropriate forum. Please email me me if any of you start a "should Neil be able to come back" thread.

Anyone who thinks he should be allowed back needs to reread the email he sent to terry back in the terry lilley thread. If you like being belittled and lied to then start a personal corresponcence with neil. I think this site is much better off with out him.

Well, I do believe in trying to be fair.

I have mentioned this to Neil before in private, but since this has now been brought up, let's air this in public.

I will start a new thread, entitled, "Should Neil be allowed back here". This thread will have a poll with only two options: YES or NO. If you don't care, you don't need to vote.

Simple majority wins, but this will not be a private vote. I WILL publish who voted what in this poll. I think that would be the fair way to do it in this instance.

But this comes with a price tag. Neil if I catch wind of you using my own site to pass message to people advising them of what I would consider damaging and abusive behavior within my site, then the next time is permanent.

Neil, what say you?

C'mon, I got so sick of Neil's BS that I stopped coming over here. It made me almost vomit how many adoring fans he had here even after all the negative posts!!! Get real...sorry I'm being so harsh but that's how I feel. Neil, no offense but I've enjoyed this sight a great deal more and have actually been able to read/reply to some significant subject matter without the off topic/bashing/blaming/heckling/ and whatever else ran so prevelant out of your mouth. I remember your first email to me...had some kind of racist remark in it about the NBA...I pretended to laugh but inside I thought to myself, STRIKE ONE!! Then I saw how you worded all of your ads..."these kids are doing GREAT!! Perfect donut sheds everytime!!" sounded like the Sopranos were getting into the hobby. Then the pics...showed me your husbandry skills, and top all that off with your prices...STRIKE 2!!!

Then I read through all of your daily 428 posts, most of them ignorant ravings or flames, insults or jabs. "My I thought...how does he care for all his animals, he's on the PC all freaking day!!" Then the whole Neil & Dave thing...babymommadrama...then he ends up selling his business to him, LOL!!!! OMG!!

I never wanted to get into a "war of words" w/ Neil or any of his supporters because I knew I wouldn't waste my time coming back for all the BS, hence loosing a great tool in the herp community (BOI)...but I try to surround myself with the Mark & Kim's (Bell), the Brian & Lori's (BHB), and the rest of the herp community that shows 100% class, 100% of the time (or at least give it a really good effort!!) Caring smiles, clean cages, and usually having only nice things to say to people...there's alot of people like that here at the BOI, I enjoy "hanging out" with all of you.

In the past I've seen pics of his animals in sometimes far less than desirable conditions - corncob bedding, $hit everywhere (note the dollar signs for reference) bad sheds (OLD OLD OLD pieces) is that what a "perfect donut shed" is???? Hmmmm...let me spend my money at "reptilePIT" or maybe the "snakePIT" I've heard so many bad things about them...or I can spend less and buy from SerpenCo, Reptile Industries, Inc. or BHB Ent. and get immaculate animals, all of the time, everytime, properly sexed, super duper clean (probrably never even seen their own poo) that will be guaranteed forever and ever Amen (at least the bloodline will be)

Here's my $20 and 2 cents...I don't know Neil personally, I only know his words, without facial expressions or tone of voice so maybe I could be wrong with this guy. He may be SUPER COOL, loves his animals, great to hang with, whatever...if so I hope we can hang out sometime, let the "words" be words and foget about it. If you're a good guy w/ a good heart you have my deepest, deepest apologies. If your pics, your prices, and your words do you and your personality justice then see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.

This might be more suited to the proposed Poll Rich mentioned, but I don't see it up as of this second, so I'll ask here and now...

In the past during the periods of time when he was banned/asked not to participate, Neil was given specific permission to post on individual threads that he was involved in.

Was that permission general "Neil may post on any thread with his name in the subject line." or was that permission individual to each thread as it was written "Neil may post on this thread."?

Looking at the situation as objectively as possible, untainted by my personal feelings about what happened, when why and if it was the right thing to do...

It seems a bit odd that, if Neil was not given permission to post on this specific thread, that when he violates the request that he detach himself from the site, that the discussion should turn to allowing general access once more.

In fact, if I remember correctly, contributing to a thread that he did not have permission in advance to do so on was supposed to be cause for having his username locked down and IP banned.

As always, it's Rich's site and the decisions and consequences for those decisions are his alone to bear and to be honest, I don't care too much one way or the other and would likely abstain from voting in a poll but...

It looks a bit odd when someone who's told they will be banned for an action and then takes that action (Unless of course he was given permission to post on this thread/all threads about him) and the reprecussions are the direct opposite of those which were layed down as a needed ultimatum.
 
Rich.... I only use WebTV (for now), I don't even know how to find an IP address, let alone make one!.... That is a pretty ironic one, though!

As far as the "poll" goes.... as I told you in our private emails.... if you could knock off a "dozen" or so, from the top, and the bottom (to be fair), and just use the middle, that would be fine with me, otherwise, I'm content the way it is.... If someone REALLY needs help, I've just been emailing them privately with as much help as I could give them.... I don't always have to do things publicly for me to like myself.... I sleep very well these days, thank you....

I appreciate you trying to be fair, you always have been, I'll never deny that.... but, I'm not a hypocrite.... that "infamous email" wasn't a slight on the site itsef, it was a slight on "some" of the people ON the site, but you know that.... and, I won't apologize for it.... I have never played well with children....

The site itself, is a fantastic tool for the herp community, whether I'm part of the "site" or not.... it's proved to be very helpful to most, detrimental to some, and unaffecting to a few.... it's all what we make it....

Rich.... run your poll if you wish.... and I'll sit here and watch how many people "QUOTE" this post just to badmouth me.... should be interesting....

I think it's simply a matter of Neil having a HUGE set of "wewos" to say what most people are afraid to......and now, I think the IMPORTANT question would be if Neil IS allowed back, is it just a matter of time until someone else get's PO'd at him b/c he speaks his mind (which some people take offensively)???

Neil may have his "ways" about him you don't like....but I LOVE Neil and think he IS one of the most honest, tell-you-how-it-is people in the business!

This is just my opinion. But what does my opinion matter? None of you will agree with me (too painful!! lol).
 
I don't think that Neil was banned the second time around. He was asked not to participate but as far as I know he wasn't told he couldn't. Splitting hairs, maybe, but since he was banned once I think there is a difference. As fo his posting on this thread, it makes no difference to me if he was asked back. If someone posts a negative about someone, that someone should be allowed to respond to that negative post.

My personal problems with Neil are just that. I don't like him; I don't trust him; and I have no use for him on any level. However, I have no evidence that his animals are bad, and I don't think he'd steal from you if you sent him money. All things considered, though . . .

Just go ahead and mark me down for a "No."

That does make a huge difference, as trivial as it might seem to some people.

A few of the threads where Neil was given specific permission to post, Rich added that into the text of the thread so that everyone knew the request wasn't being circumvented. This one didn't have that, so I was uncertain. It would have been very strange had that request been broken and permission not granted for it to be met with the response it was.
