In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

New addition - What do you think?

I went to check out this new petstore that opened up since I needed crickets and figured that was as good an excuse as any to go there and see what it was like.
Very impressive. Not sure if it's because it's new or if they are going to keep it this way. Animals housed individually in clean cages, temp and humidity gages in use, and WOW, what a selection of leos! And they were all labeled with what they were (not just leopard gecko as a label). I really liked the patternless rainwater albino they had. A bit pricey but it was nice looking.

Anyway, this little one caught my eye and perked up as soon as I came near the cage. Just had to buy it. I think it's a male but it manages to do rolls and contortions like you wouldn't believe so it's really hard to get a decent look to tell for sure but I think I saw a row of pores before the last "deathroll".

Anyway, here it is. In QT and isolation right now but soon to meet some other leos.

Ignore this post.
I have now gone from happy to worried about this leo. :(

Didn't notice it until the pic was taken.
Look at the legs. Start of MBD. :(

I'm so sorry, Steve! Try to get the little one on liquid calcium (neocalglucon) for a few weeks, and make sure it is getting calcium powder WITH Vitamin D until it stabilizes. Geckos can and do go into death rolls when you try to turn them over, and doesn't necessarily mean it is having seizures... just keep an eye out.

Aw, heck Steve. Get that calcium and D3 in him. With you caring for him, he'll do well I'm sure.

And my Leos do the "death roll" when I try to flip them over too....they're just ticked and don't want to get in the direction I want them in...or maybe they are just modest and don't want me peeking at their nether regions. ;)

So are you keeping him on that coconut mulch or was it just for pics. I'm sure Golden Gate's treatment will work fine if this has just started. The sooner you catch something the better. Did the Pet Store have Calcium dishes for them? Nonetheless he is BEAUTIFUL! Gotta love a purple tail, those are my personal weakness's!!

He is now on paper towels with a dish of calcium, a water bowl, and I ordered pheonix worms and I am now looking online to order some neocalglucon.

The colors are a lot brighter than in the picture which is what really made it stand out plus it just seemed to beg to come home (perked up, ran over to the front of the cage and stepped up into my hand without running, well not too much running :D ).

I did not see a calcium dish in the cage at the petstore. There was a dish with water and one with mealworms.

That's actually cypress mulch. He went in there to keep warm while I prepared his tub.

At least he's still able to walk on his feet. If you can get it corrected quick enough he should be able to live a good life without to many other problems.

It is really sad when the legs get so folded that they are walking on their forearms or elbows.

If you have a Walgreens I believe they will order a bottle of it for you. I think it was around $18.00 and it will last you a long time.

If he's eating making sure all the food items are thickly dusted with a supplement like rep-cal with D3 should do the trick. Crickets seem to hold more powder than worms and you may want to try hand feeding pre-killed if he seems to have any difficulty catching them (usually when the legs are that bowed they also have weak jaws). Like the others have said, his deformities are relatively minor; it's good you caught it early.

Leos can also come down with MBD if you use a calcium supplement containing phospherus. Since the feeders have plenty of phospherus but are low in calcium, if you use a supplement that already has a 2:1 calcium phospherus ratio you won't correct the imbalance. Back when I started I had some leos come down with a slight bow to their front legs before I realized what was up and switched supplements.

It's likely with a case that advanced that the store received him that way. Since they seem interested in maintaining their leos well, it might be a good idea to go back, mention the state of the leo you got and suggest that they add calcium dishes.

Not looking too good.

Runny, really bad smelling stool and refused food yesterday and today (I even offered wax worms with no luck).

He is going on Monday to see the doc.

Sorry to hear he's not doing well Steve. Hopefully the vet will be able to treat him. If not, I know that you gave him the best life possible for the short time you had him. He is certainly lucky to have you.
