In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello everyone. I'm new to having one of these lizards,
and lizards in general. My wife has had a few, and before
we got our baby beardie, we bought two books and browsed around
a bit. But between either the books contradicting each other,
or not being clear enough. I have some basic questions to ask.
I apologize for sounding dumb. But we would really rather be idiots
with a happy dragon. ^_^

Our little guy is a PetCo baby, maybe 5 inches or so, tiny. We're guessing
2 months old or so. just judging by what he looks like and size. He seems
fairly healthy, though we don't know about anything internal yet. He's
active, his eyes are constantly moving around. He's about done shedding,
And He will eat crikets no problem, but we're not sure how much to feed
him. Some places say roughly, 3 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and
3 at night.
Others have suggested upwards of 20 or 30 for hatchlings per day.

Another issue is him drinking. I think he refuses to drink. I'm new to
reptiles, but very used to rodents. And when they drink, everyone knows
it. Or does he get a drink when he goes charging through the water dish
or sleeps in it. He has the loose skin which from what i've found is due
to lack of water (right?) so i've been misting him a bit. But haven't
introduced him to a bath yet. It should be around chest deep correct?
With slightly warmer then room temp water?

For food we've been giving him crikets, tried the lettuce, carrots, and pea's thing. and have had no luck with that. Is there some trick? or Is he still bothered with the move and change of enviroment?
Which also leads me to my next point. He has the stress marks constantly since we got him, (which is sad, I think their beautiful markings) except once.
It was when we first brought him home and his cage was about 70 degree's. (we were switching him from one cage to another and I had just moved the heat lamp over and was messing with that.) Any reason why they'd go away when he was cold and come back when he was warm again?

The substrate we're using is the calci-sand stuff. which i am no looking into the tile method.
But thank you for all your help, or at least reading through this. ^_^
Currently our little baby is named Chakax and will hopefully be a part of our little family for quite a while.

Any other general tips would be helpful. ^_^ Thank you!

Hi Josh....your baby dragon can and should eat crickets 2-3 times daily, the crix being no longer than the space between his eyes.Let him eat all the crix he wants...never too late at night,he needs the heat of the day to digest. The basking area should be about 105....is 70 the cool end of your cage ? That is O.K. for the cool end but a HOT area is mandatory. Some of the calcium sand on the market can cause impaction,I don't use any of it so I don't remember which[if any] are safe. For a baby I would use a bare floor or paper towels.Shelf liner is O.K.too.Spray the baby for drinking...it may run at first but will get used to it...mine alldo. As for veggies, mine eat them very early on [ even at one week] because I shred the mustard+turnip greens[you don't need peas+carrots for a tiny dragon] in to small pieces and drop them in the cage[you can do that on a paper plate until you get rid of the sand]

Just wanted to explain why I said "drop" the greens in the cage. The baby dragons are attracted to the movement...they run and grab it up.I have never had a dragon that won't eat greens....EVER.This works and the greens[ not lettuce] are LOADED with calcium+nutrients. Please buy the mustard+turnip greens...in the summer I collect dandelion from my yard as well as clover leaf and mulberry leaves from my tree.I hope your new baby does well !! Many from those stores are not healthy, but yours sounds reasonably so.

Babies can dehydrate more easily than adults...they should be sprayed a minimum of once daily.Twice daily is even better. Not all people get their babies to eat their veggies so in those cases water by spraying is critical.
