In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi everyone!

My name is Ying, I'm from Seattle and I assisted looking after a leopard gecko for a month or so; after that I really really wanted a reptile of my own. :)

I am interested in a leopard gecko, uromastyx or a blue tongue skink. As I only want one reptile, I am having trouble deciding between them.

Leopard gecko - I liked that they were easy to look after, were very tame and handable and did not take up much space. However, seeing it is my first (and probably only reptile for awhile) I wanted something 'different' which is what is stopping me from going for leos right now.

Uromastyx - My strongest reasons for these guys are that they are primarily herbivores. I do not have to worry about live food as much. And their tails are super cool. ;) However, I have been told that they are skittish and quick. Not particularly tolerant to being handled which is one of the biggest factors for me; hence I am uncertain about them.

Blue tongue skinks - Biggest thing for me is that I heard they are very tolerant to being interacted with! I love their heads, eyes, tongues, everything physically about them. I am worried they are not for beginner reptile owners though, being omnivores and that they grow to be pretty large.

I apologize if I sound ignorant in any way, I have been researching for half a month and am still in the process of doing so. Any insight from current owners who have experience with any of the reptiles above would help immensely! I am very happy to be here. :)
