In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

New Geckos from A&M ~SCREAMERS~

hey

so the giants are pretty big producers ? even their first time ? i remember you said (matt) they are producing eggs quicker than your others ? do you know how many days inbetween layings for your girls ? thanx

the eggs are bigger..due to the babies being slightly larger than the normal hatchlings, and they can produce more clutches due to the fact that they hold more weight than the normal sized geckos, even though there are some normal sized females in the 100 gram range..but giants seem to hold weight better

im sure she was doing exceptionally well in alberto's care also, or else he would have never shipped her off

anyway, lets not turn this thread into a big war

Matt, i agrree, they do look alike, i'll find out who her parents where and let you know
I'm sure she was doing very well in Alberto's care, but that doesn't negate the amount of stress a laying female is subjected to nor the amount of stress that shipping any animal subjects the animal to.

Stories like that don't reflect well on the seller in my mind.

There is no way that a leo is at its peak of health the day after laying the 22nd egg of the year. I just do not feel it is ethical to ship an animal coast-to-coast that soon afterwards.

You are putting way too much stress on the animal. So I stand by what I said, I am glad that the animal is doing well in MattP's care now and did not decline from the stresses it was unnecessarily subjected to.

lets just not make a big flame war about this ok steve? not worth our time

both opinions were stated and now its over

I'm sorry, was your opinion that egg laying and shipping are not stressful to a leo?

Or was your opinion that Alberto could never show poor judgement?

You're right, its over. The damage was done and thankfully the animal is safe and being cared for by MattP.

exactly

I am glad that the animal is doing well in MattP's care now and did not decline from the stresses it was unnecessarily subjected to.
definately agree w/ that ! poor girl

im glad she did not fall unnecesary stress also.

but alberto does NOT deserve to be bad mouthed on an open forum, unless this was the BOI, and if i were the poster it would be nothin but good guy posts for him, do i agree with shipping her out after her 22nd egg..not necessarily, i would have waited till she was done laying or let at least a week and a half go by, but i am not alberto.

maybe matt insisted that he ship her at that time, but only matt can clarify that

now, its done, ended leave it at that

It ranges, but it seems to be about 14 days consistently. The other females lay about every 2 to 4 weeks. It also depends on how much fat and calcium they have.

Matt

aaahh thank you !

yep shes looking fat allready again too ....better clean out the egg laying chamber . another one for ya > was it the first eggs that were infertile or towards the end ofthe cycle ? my giants first were fertile and are even bigger now ...expect these babies will be the size of my two month old hatchlings (only somewhat kidding)lol

Well Dan, that female hasn't dropped yet.......... she's getting close though, I expect all of her eggs to be fertile. I have had 5 Giants start laying eggs, 3 first time breeders and 2 proven breeders. This is my first year producing Giants and so far they have been showing the typical "normal" gecko behaviors........... example: first time breeders a laying mostly infertile eggs for first and second clutch; first time breeders are also laying only one egg on either first or second, and even third clutch. The only major difference with the Giants is that they are laying eggs faster and the eggs are a bit larger/longer. In my experience it's usually at the beginning of the cycle when you see infertile eggs............not at the end.

Matt

huh

well im considering myself lucky then . two fertile eggs her first-time ..........wow thanks matt

my "normal-sized " PA female did that at the end of last year

3 single egg clutches , and the very first one was infertile
