In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi! I am completely new to the forum :) I have been wanting a reptile for years now and I have FINALLY convinced my husband to get me one! So now comes the research phase before deciding what to purchase, which is what led me to this forum. I am really looking forward to browsing around and asking several questions! I am sure everyone will be sick of me soon lol.

Any suggestions of a good one to start with for a beginner?

Welcome, Brandi.

Can't go wrong with ball pythons, and they come in so many cool paint jobs. But I might be a bit biased. :D

Thanks! :D I have been considering a snake. I saw a gorgeous Boa today! Absolutely beautiful! But I am sort of leaning towards a Crested Gecko to get me started... still deciding though XD

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear your husband is letting you "feed your need" for reptiles. When I got back into keeping snakes, my first one was a tiny cornsnake because my husband was deathly afraid of snakes. This corn was easy to hide from him foe a couple of weeks, now 32 snakes & several species later he recently finished building my custom enclosures for my retics & burms.

Corns are good to start with, very easy to take care of & so are ball pythons. Good luck with your research, but if your like me it's gonna' be hard to pick just one!

Thank you! Yes, this is the exact problem I am running into... I want one of everything!! lol But I better start off with just one so my hubby's head doesn't spin off!

Welcome to Fauna!
Make sure to check out the BOI before making any purchases, it could just save you alot of time and money. It is a GREAT tool to have before making a purchase!

Good luck, I hope you find everything you are looking for~

Happy Herping!
