In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Recently got 2 albino california kings male and female...the female is a champ very docile and active and just ate for me for the first time...the male however refused 2 meals (F/T) and i cant figure out why...at first i had it in a 5 gallon plastic enclosure and it has been very aggresive and always strikes the side of the cage the whole time im near it...i was thinkin maybe it was stressed cause of the small cage and having no hide so i put it in a 10gallon tank with a hide and tried again today with no luck...its not about to shed and it has a warm/cool side of the tank...i thought i was doin everything right anyone have any ideas?

One other idea I had is I have the cage right next to my Western Hognoses cage and since king snakes eat other snakes could he be getting the Hognoses scent and trying to find her?

OK I have a couple of questions:

1) Was he eating before you got him?

2) How big is he? hatchling, sub adult, adult

3) exactly how long have you had him?

honestly im not even sure if hes had a meal in his life lol...he is a baby about 10 inches long... i got him from my work (reptmart) and they usually dont sell snakes unless they are eating steadily...i know the female has eaten...and ive had it for 2 weeks now...first time i tried to feed it was 5 days after i got it and just tried again today...he strikes at the pinky and bites it like hes pissed lol but he wont eat it...even left it in the cage overnight and nothing

First thing I would try is leaving it with a pinkie for a few hours in the evening in a very small paper bag with the top folded down and a paper clip holding it shut. Don't worry, the snake will not suffocate, I've done it many times. Being enclosed in a tight space may make it feel secure enough to take the pinkie. You could also try washing the scent off the pinkie with soap and water. I've heard that works some times but I've never tried it. If that doesn't work, look at this video and try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHg7sMG4CtA That a kingsnake breeder on the other forums that knows a lot more about this stuff than me. Then you can also try scenting the pinkie by washing the scent off it and rubbing it on a lizard. Some baby kingsnakes prefer lizards over mice, that's why scenting with a lizard works often. The last resort before force feeding is to brain a pinkie. This is said to work very often. Its pretty gross, you cut into the head of a dead pinkie and squeeze the head until the brains come out and rub that scent all over the pinkies face. I've never had to do that but they say it works more often than not. Last resort is to buy a pinkie pump and force feed with that. These are just the few techniques I know of, maybe someone else can help you better. Just be sure the snake is not disturbed too often. Kids can stress them out by always looking at them through the glass and taping on the window, or having the cage in a room with a lot of activity. And be sure not to use lights for heating. If you are using ventral heating (under the snake or under the cage) be sure its not too hot. Check it with a thermometer and be sure its not over 85°F. A lot of people recommend to but a hide place over the heat and one on the cool end of the cage. Good luck with him.
