Hi!
My name is Marie and I live in So Oregon. I may need a bit of hand holding and advice as I just got my 1st turtle today. My neighbor didn't have time for him, so "Herbie" has joined my family. He will take up residence in an area about 16x6 near my pond. The area has full morning sun, part shade-part sun depending on area the rest of the day. Already installed was a mist watering system for the various plants that will also offer him cover. Today, I installed a base off of a large planter (about 18" across by a little over an inch deep) for Herbie to soak in, he'll also have various separate fresh water drinking areas and a flat bonsai saucer as his feeding dish. Tomorrow I will also construct his "cabana" - a hide area with litter debris and straw for him to burrow in and possibly a couple of log/tunnel hides too. The area is enclosed with a 2 foot high rock wall around the back and one side. I will be using 2 foot high hardware cloth for one side and the front. This will be covered over with some sort of ivy as soon as I can get it to grow.
So...........what else do I need to know?
