    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Okay, it isn't until Sept., but there is going to be a reptile show in Minnesota this fall. YAY! Hopefully, it will do well. I would love to have an annual show to go to that doesn't take 4-8 hours of driving to get to. It is called the "River Valley Reptile Expo" and will be in Mankato, Mn. It is listed in the fauna event calendar. I'm sure we'll get more details, in time.:dancer01: :dancer01:

Spread the word guys, if it goes over well it will be an every other month event.

That would be great to have a successful show close to home here.....Thomas, do you know how if there are a lot of vendors who have shown interest in coming?

Well the convention hall was booked yesterday and the webpage and all the ads went up the same day and we already have 3 besides myself and the promoter, Im hoping the trend continues.

hopefuly jeff ronne will go, i lived in faribault at one time

Thomas -

I'm sure you meant bi-annual, not bi-monthly. When my partner chatted with Larry, he said he'd have one twice a year, if it gets a good turn-out. I don't think 6 shows per year would be supported as well as a spring and fall show each year.

A reptile show in Minnesota is like a dream come true!! I have been in herps for close to 30 years and I would love to be able to go to a show twice a year, even tho I live in North Dakota. I sure hope it gets the support that it needs to keep it going.

I emailed Larry Ulrich this weekend and he said they would add a map or directions to the website and also update the vendors list. He said something like, as soon as everybody pays who is signed up, they will have between 30-40 vendors, better than was expected!!!! YEAH!! Wish I had critters to sell this year, oh well, there's always next year....(but I'll be buying this year!)

Show DATE CHANGED!!!!

I just got off the phone with Larry and he is changing the date of the show to September 10th (instead of the 17th), because of conflicts with the KC, MO show. Sooooo, same place...same hours...but ONE week earlier! Mark your calendar for September 10th!!

Well that sucks......I put in for vacation from work for the weekend of the 17th. I wasn't going to pay for a table until I knew I had vacation........

I don't know that I can change it. :bandhead0

hey folks trying to make this the best show we can didn't realize kc was the same weekend until this week and talked to some vendors and no interest because i was up against a big show now it will be 10th sorry i changed it as soon as i could sorry Kathy hopefully it still works out.............
Larry

Ah yes...

The perils of putting together a new show for the first time...lol. Hey Cat, I hope you can change your vacation days. It would nice to get a big turnout for this show. I guess Larry has a bunch of potential vendors that go to KC every year and to get them here, he had to move the date up. As it stands right now, the Mankato show will be the first one in the Upper Midwest area, followed by KC, Des Moines, Omaha, and Chicago on each subsequent weekend.

Well then you need to change your website ASAP-- should have already been done!!

I'll see what I can do to change it.....I've got a lot of babies to move here, lol.

the other person helping me promote this show will be updating the website and all of the other ads out there on the internet..........when he wakes up........
