In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi
Im new to Boas and I like them alot. As a kid that Columbian Red Tail Boa was my favorite snake. I just loved the colors on them as well as the size and that they were easy to handle.

When I saw all the different morphs in the boas Im blown away amazing colors patters etc.

I have my 1st Boa its an B.C.C. Albino DH Snow female that I got from CVExotics.

Picture024.jpg

I cant wait for her to grow to adult hood so that I can breed her. What would be the perfect male to breed her to? A normal DH Snow male or Anery DH Snow male or Albino DH Snow. Does it come down to witch one I can afford or get ? Would you get the same amount of Snows in an Albino DH Snow x Albino DH Snow breeding than if I was to breed a Albino DH Snow x Normal DH Snow ? I find reptile Genitcis so confusing. Trying to get a handle or a grasp of it all.

Another ? that I have pertains to the Sunglows and MoonGlows. I know that my Albino DH Snow is 100 % Het for Albino and Anery. My ? is what makes a Sunglow and what makes a Moonglow. I think that the Sunglow is my favorite Boa but I cant afford one so I would like to mabey buy some hets and attempt to breed for the sunglow as well as the Moonglow.

Does anyone here have any Sunglows or Moonglows. If you do could you pleae post your pics of them.

Thanks

Harry,
I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just trying to help clarify things.
I'm a little confused by your terminology.
You say that you have a B.C.C. Albino DH Snow female.
I'm guessing that it's probably a B.c.i. (Boa constrictor imperator) rather then a B.c.c. (Boa constrictor constrictor). The typical population of the boa color morphs are of B.c.i. bloodlines. Also, she is obviously Albino (based on your photo) but what is she DH (Double het) for? Albino het for Snow is understandable, but if she is indeed DH, what is the other trait that she is carrying.

Snow is a combination trait which is exhibited by breeding an Albino to a Anerythristic.

A Sunglow is also a combination trait which is produced by breeding a Albino to a Hypomelanistic.

A Moonglow is a combination trait which is produced by combining the following traits: Anerythristic / Albino / Hypomelanistic.

If you would like an easy to read introduction on Boa Genetics, I have it available on-line at: www.BoaGenetics.com

Thanks,

No Im not insulted like I said Im new to boas and I just dont know any better. I get BBC BCI confused and couldnt tell the difference between the 2.

She's Albino Het Anerythristic

Is a Salmon Boa a "Hypo" because I was told that A Sunglow is essentially a Salmon albino or an albino Salmon. It’s the combination of both the genes. You can breed a Salmon that is het. for albino (DH Sunglow) to an albino or even to a normal het. albino and produce Sunglows.

Thanks for clarifying somethings for me and thanks for the link I will read up on genetics.

Any advice on what male I should pair up with my female I would like to produce the Snow or Sunglow is it possible I could produce both in the same litter?

There are multiple forms of Hypomelanism in Boas.
Salmon is a line that was developed by Rich Ihle and is generally regarded as one of the more beautiful bloodlines.

The least expensive way to produce the Sunglows would be for you to breed your female to a Hypo het Albino male. Statistically, the litter should contain:

50% Hypo: of which you would have het Albino / 50% possible het Anerythristic

50% Sunglow: 50% possible het Anerythristic

It is possible to produce both Sunglows and Snows in the same litter. If that is what you are shooting for your best pairing would be a Hypo het albino and het anery (aka: triple het for moonglow) or a Ghost het albino.

I think your best bet would be the Ghost het for albino to get your snow, and or moonglow. They essentially look the same, but odds wise, that sounds best to me.

I also think you should concentrate a lot on learning about Boa Constrictor itself, before you worry about breeding them. Just an extra 2 cents.

Good looking snake BTW. She's be the one to prove My male anery with if she were older. He may be het albino.

I agree with you in that i should learn first about the boas before breeding i have to wait sometime before im able to breed her anyway. She was born 6/21/06 so I got quite sometime before breeding.
