• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

New York to Canada

Tiff, I could be wrong and people on her can correct me, but I believe you have to get a CITES permitt which could take awhile to obtain. Others could give you more info I'm sure.

It depends on what you are shipping...CITES paperwork is only required for animals included in CITES - Appendices I, II, or III. If the animals to be exported are covered under any other law (jurisdiction, list?), you will be subject to these other requirements as well ((ie US Endangered Species Act).
If not, you will still need export permits, health certificates, + inspection at the port of exit. (you can only ship out of certain airports).
According to USFW website, you should allow 60 days for your permit.

If it is non-CITES (such as corns and most colubrids), it is MUCH easier to ship to a US city on the border and let the Canadians pick up there, and drive across. If it is for their own personal pets (not for a business or commercial venture), I have never had any customers who had problems with Customs. None have required a health cert. doing it that way, at least not so far. Even if they have a long drive, it will save a lot of money in red tape and commercial export fees, inspections, etc, that occur with export shipments.

But if it is a CITES animal, it is a different story. I don't ship those, so can't say if you can do it exactly the way I do it, after getting the CITES export permit.

Thanks for adding that, Kathy - I knew a lot of people did it, but wasn't sure if it was "officially" ok and hassle free.
