    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,

I am trying to set up my first shipment. I went to my fedex account to get "rates and transit times" for a potential shipment. I put in the information. The package will weigh about 1 lb, be 12"x8"x8", shipped from Clinton Twp. MI to Thorndike ME. The quote says the shipping will be around $60. I have had prior shipments all the way from Washington and the shipping was only around $40. Does this seems to be a typical price or am I entering something wrong? Please help a newbie out!

Thanks,
Levi S.

The shipments you received were probably from a) somebody with a better discount, or b) somebody using either RE Or SYR. $60 is NOT unusual.

OK. Thank you, I expected as much, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. Thank you!

Just because you've become Fed-Ex certified doesn't mean you're getting a discount......You'd need to discuss that with your FedEx representative......

First I would like to say your package may only be 1lb. But dimension weight is 5lbs. So you are charged for 5lbs.

L x W x H / 166=DIM weight
measuring the box anything above 1/2" rounds to the next inch. They arent bashful about rounding up for you and sending you the bill.

You should get between 10-15% off just for printing the label online. (Keep in mind the discount applies to BASE rate only excluding surcharges)

But depending on the number of boxes you plan to ship yearly you should be able to work out something with your local FedEx rep.

Best wishes.

:iagree: I believe they call it a balloon charge or something like that. I also think the more you ship, the better the discount.
