    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

WARNING!
This will likely be a long post, if that upsets or offends you in any way just turn back now. The purpose of this post is not to sell or presell anything. I'll walk you through how this thing works every time despite how you may feel about it and regardless of flattering comments and favors, stop yourself. You have two weeks from the time of me posting this to read and understand. My inbox is full, I don't use messenger and forgot how to use a phone so I guess if you have any unanswered questions after this you can come ask at the show, or not, do whatever makes you happy but just leave me alone.

FYI, you're already reading the wrong tone into what I've typed here, leave that bitter mindset at home! Wouldn't want you to ruin happy fun Tinley time.

I will have the following newts available at NARBC Tinley Park, IL October 12-13 at the Chicago Reptile House booth. All are first come first served at the table for newt collectors with a VIP pass at 8am Saturday.
Vendors and resellers can wait until I take care of the first group of VIP pass holders, so like 9am. Half of the newts I bring end up going to vendors but I'm give priority people like me who want to keep them for what they are, not buy and sell them because of what they're worth. I don't work for you. 8am Saturday is not Friday night and not in the lobby before the show, I don't even want to talk to you then, just go away. No holds and absolutely no shipping, ever! NO MEANS NO. First come first served means the first to the table to actually buy them. If someone gets to the table before you do, you can wait patiently for them to get their newts until it's your turn. Bring your manners or you won't be getting any newts. I post these ads well in advance so you can avoid making a spur of the moment impulse buy and have an idea of what you're looking for. All of these were produced in my aquariums and raised locally by me. These things are incredibly fragile compared to many other animals you'll see at the show, minor mistakes or inappropriate diet and housing can quickly kill them. The failure rate with amphibians is and always has been very high! There are a few species on this list that are more fragile than others and in the past even some people who I would consider to be pretty advanced salamander keepers have reported major problems or total losses in their attempts. Don't say I didn't warn you. They'll be packed in some pretty clear containers so you can examine them for defects, count them and see what you're getting before you get it. Once you walk away there are absolutely no guarantees expressed or implied whatsoever. No refunds, no exchanges. If any of this bothers you, don't even stop by! Each species is listed by its current (to the best of my knowledge) scientific name. Prior to the show you can do at least a five minute Google search to figure out if you can keep them. The number in parenthesis ( ) indicates the minimum quantity I will bring to give you a better idea of how early you may want to arrive. I'll even highlight some in red to indicate you need not waste a long trip if you don't plan on being there first. Some people have thought they got there early enough but were alarmed to find that they weren't the only one looking for that type of newt and they missed out by a matter of minutes, or even seconds. Again, don't say I didn't warn you. There will be a reasonable limit on the maximum quantity on some that any one person present can buy before 9am. The prices are listed below so when you ask your wife's permission you'll know how much money to ask for as well. Most of the newts will be packaged in inseparable groups as listed below.

If any of this bothers you don't get anything from me. If you have a better way, please do it yourself.

Did you read that part up there? ^ Stop and read it again.
All prices valid 10/12-10/13 2024 ONLY AT NARBC, sharp discounts on some species Sunday.

(maybe none?) Ambystoma mexicanum- $??? aquatic. If I have any they won't be on the table because people block my newts looking at them.

(12) Cynops ensicauda ensicauda- 6 for $300 (limit 6 per person before 9am) terrestrial

(40+) Cynops ensicauda popei- 4 for $100 (limit 8 per person before 9am) terrestrial

(40+) Cynops pyrrhogaster (Kyushu Island)- 4 for $100 (limit 8 per person before 9am) terrestrial

(12) Hypselotriton chenggongensis- 3 for $100, aquatic. (limit 6 per person before 9am) Note: these were sold to me as chenggongensis by a knowledgeable newt keeper who was getting out of the hobby years ago. To my eyes they look pretty close to cyanurus, close enough that they could easily be mistaken for one another. I've been careful not to mix the two and you should do the same. If you don't have an extra tank, you don't need extra newts, got it? Kindly control yourself.

(few!) Hypselotriton cyanurus- $25 each, aquatic

(50+) Hypselotriton orientalis- 5 for $100 (limit 10 per person before 9am) very small, terrestrial. I know, I know, you can get them at any Petco or Walmart for like $3....in 1995. While you're there, get me a couple dozen adult yellow tangs for $8.99. Thanks!

(40+) Ichthyosaura alpestris apuanus- 4 for $100 (limit 12 per person before 9am) aquatic (formerly Mesotriton, formerly Triturus and the name will likely change again)

(60+) Laotriton laoensis- 2 for $100 terrestrial. (limit 10 per person before 9am) These are fragile. As with many other species, if you keep them in a terrarium that is too wet, especially without proper ventilation they will die. They're also very slow and can't catch agile prey items. Don't buy any. I've been having good luck keeping them on layered up damp paper towel with stacks of leaves and bark and they're they only newts I feed live, gross California blackworms to.

(25+) Lissotriton helveticus- 5 for $100 (limit 10 per person before 9am) terrestrial, very small, very delicate, don't buy any.

(25+) Lissotriton vulgaris- 5 for $100 (limit 10 per person before 9am) will be labeled aquatic or terrestrial

(140+) Neurergus crocatus- 4 for $100 aquatic. This genus is said to spontaneously die for no reason. I've had my adult groups for around nine years and I'm still waiting for any to die. Water quality is probably important, no Triturus style turd substrate allowed with these and a tight fitting lid is equally important! Seriously though.

(few) Neurergus kaiseri- $50 each, aquatic, don't waste a trip for them.

(100+) Neurergus strauchii- 2 for $100 (limit 10 per person before 9am) aquatic. I bought my group from an ad on fauna classifieds almost 10 years ago for $50 each and haven't seen many available since then. I believe that is still a fair price, for less I'll keep them all.

(1,000+/-) Ommatotriton nesterovi- 5 for $100 (limit 25 per person before 9am) terrestrial. (formerly o_Ophryticus, formerly Triturus vittatus and the name will probably keep on changing). I realize that seems like a huge number, but these are very small (and fragile!). Same deal as the strauchii, I've kept juveniles produced by multiple breeding groups separate. Sharp discounts on big groups Sunday. If you keep them too wet without proper ventillation they will quickly die!!

(50+) Paramesotriton chinensis- 4 for $100 (limit 8 per person before 9am) terrestrial. These juveniles are quite small and take a longer time to grow and mature than most other species on this list. If you ever want to worry that your newts are literally going to kill one another during the breeding season, get into Paramesotriton! Otherwise I don't really recommend them at all.

(40+) Pleurodeles waltl- $20 each, aquatic.
SUPER RARE AND DESIREABLE!!!!

(40+/-) Triturus carnifex (normal)- 4 for $100 aquatic

(40+/-) Triturus carnifex (flavistic)- 3 for $100 aquatic

(6) Triturus dobrogicus- $25 each aquatic

(60+) Triturus karelinii- 4 for $100 aquatic

(10) Triturus macedonicus- $40 each aquatic

(30+) Triturus marmoratus- 3 for $100 terrestrial (limit 9 per person before 9am)

(14) Triturus pygmaeus- $40 each (limit 7 per person before 9am) terrestrial

(12) Tylotriton verrucosus- 2 for $100 (limit 6 per person before 9am) terrestrial. We always called these verrucosus, some call them shanorum, call them whatever you'd like for $50.

Thanks for looking! Until and after the show, leave me alone.
