    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hey guys so im looking to pick up a nic from the austin expo this coming weekend and i had a few questions.

1. what should i look for (patterns, coloring) to make sure im getting a true nic?
2. whats a reasonable price to pay at a show?
3. any big questions to ask the breeder?

thanks for any help!

Hi,

As for what to look for, that's a bit too general of a question, really, it's just a matter of looking at a ton of boas and you start to just see it. Because individual boas are so variant, there's no good way to answer that question.

As for pricing, that's individual to the breeder. I've seen them for as cheap as $30-35, but there is always the saying "you get what you pay for". I would think you could get a healthy, captive bred Nicaraguan for around $75 or so

As for what to ask the breeder, my main concern would be if it was captive bred in the US. This is a major concern about Nicaraguans because most are imported. You don't want to have to deal with an imported baby when captive bred are relatively easy to find.

Here's some pics of the last Nic I acquired, fixed him up and rehomed him. So you can at least have an idea. LUCKY

That would be the classic look of a Nic neonate, but like Chris pointed out, Boas a highly variant, and that includes Nics. Some Nics have killer stripes, some are light, some are really dark, some with no tail color, etc, etc. There's a buttload of examples in this thread here... http://www.boaddiction.com/showthread.php?p=28915 Amie has some real nice Nics.
