    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Went to the petstore today, only intending to get some mousecicles, mind you. :cool: Happened to look at the herps, just for kicks. Saw this pretty little girl, displayed as a "cross kingsnake". Sure looked to me like a (Nigra) Black Kingsnake! Well, I got the mousesicles - and the King! :thumbsup:

So I posted some photos on "another forum" crowing about my new Black King. Low and behold, a reply comes..."Looks more like a Splendida..." Errr...Hmmm... :uhh:

Anyway, I got out Conant and Collins - I still think Nigra - but? :confused:
So (hopefully) heres some pics - Anybody wanna hazard an ID?

Thanks Bunches,

John D

Splendida!

I took a closer look at FATTY.

She has a mostly black belly with yellow blotches on the sides, 23 dorsal scale rows, a row of dark spots along each side, and 46 or 47 well defined crossbars.

These characteristics are all consistent with Splendida. I believe my initial ID was a case of "Seeing what I wanted to see"! She superficially resembles the race of Niger from SE Tennessee that I am familliar with. These often have noticeable crossbars (supposedly due to genetic influence from Getulus).

As to the snake, she is a copious musker, and a bluff striker. She settles down quickly in my hand, but still musks when touched. I never thought I'd say this about a Splendida, but she is a real beauty! :)

Regards,

John D
