• In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.

    Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
    Sponsors - Eliminated
    Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
    Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

    On July 1, 2027, all paid memberships will be closed.

    On August 1, 2027, FaunaClassifieds will be terminated.

    Only change I expect that might take place is when I can get around to figuring out when the amount of money I would have to refund for the yearly paid memberships becomes less than the monthly expense of leasing my server, THAT date might be the termination date for the site.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

My male Timor Monitor just loves when late summer and fall come around, I catch Katydids that seem to congregate around my workplace and bring them home, and he makes short work of them.
He's getting on in years. I got him as a young adult back in 2001, so he's got to be at least 11 years old. Definitely showing his age, but he still huffs and puffs whenever I get too close for his liking.





 
Thanks Donna! I just wish I still had his mate, she passed away three years ago. She was a real looker, and not quite as 'hissy' as Stripe is.
 
Naw.....It's been a great experience having and breeding them, but lizards typically take more time and effort to take care of, and free time for me is at a premium.
 
Did you guys have the 13-yr cicadas this summer? You could literally pick up 100 of them no matter where you were standing, for like 3 months. Unfortunately, I have nothing large enough to eat them. It felt like such a waste of free feeders!! I have to admit I took great joy in watching bug-haters running around, tearing at their hair.

Oh yeah, we had them (though not in those kind of numbers lol). I used to catch them and feed them to my Savannah monitor Lucky (RIP). Sounded like he was eating popcorn :rofl:

I moved to MD and for the FIRST time (some time ago) saw some big bugs in the MILLIONS with beady red eyes! They were EVERYWHERE!! Trees were COVERED with them! Are those what you are talking about?

I was covered from head to toe when I stepped out the door. Light-weight HOODED jacket, and jogging pants...lol They were scary!

I'm trying to get out of MD before they come back.:ack2:

Dragon, I can let you know when they return and you can come scoop them up (if I haven't made my escape by then).:rofl:
 
Yep, those are them! They're totally harmless. You've got until 2024 to escape. People here had no choice but to get used to get used to them. They were like 2 inches long, and clung to your clothes every time you went out. When you pick them off, they start rattling. Too fun!

It was my first exposure to them, and no one here could tell me about them. They looked awfully scary to be harmless, so I wasn't taking chances. :rofl::rofl: I certainly didn't stand still long enough for any to land on me long enough to get a foothold.:rofl::rofl:

But whew! Thanks for the information!:thumbsup:
