In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey all, my cousin got his first BP from Petsmart (i know, i know, i told them to wait until the expo i go to but) and he did fine. He was in a 10 gallon with a UTH. Ate fine, did everything fine no runny stool nothing. Then about a month or so ago he quit eating and to this day hasnt eaten. He was put in a 20 gallon cage with a 75w light on him with a rabbit cage top on the 19th, and because of the lid hes somehow pushed his eye in. And hes got some red irritation looking marks on his stomach (hes in shed though so i told him id look at him again after he sheds). Hes very skinny lookin now and his left eye is only sticking out about half as far as his other one. And other then taking him to the vet which tey need to but have no money for any ideas on some solutions on the feeding issue? and will his eye maybe come out after he sheds? Thanks for all help.

Dented eyes mean low humidity or dehydration.

Do you know the temps of the enclosure? Hot side, and cool side? and are they regulated with a thermostat * this keeps heating elements from getting TOO HOT)?

Lamps tend to dry the air out, so if there isnt enough humidity, that could be why the eye is dented in. Low humidity will mean problem sheds.

I would have him soak the animal in lukewarm water for about 10-15 minutes, and make sure to mist daily, keeping the humidity at about 50-60%

Look at Wal Mart, Petsmart or Petco for a Hydrometer/Thermometer combo. ( The digital kind)

What types of prey has he tried feeding? What size?

My cousin fed him frozen pinks at first and then he ate his first live which was a baby rat, but has gotten small mice, some F/T, some live ever since. He bred some mice and has tried giving him the baby mice every few days. He says the snake just kinda cuddles with the mice and they cuddle back since they cant see. We even tried a freshly killed mouse to him and he just poked it and ignored it. I told him humidity and temp might be an issue and told him to go to walmart or something to at least get 2 thermos, if not a hydrometer too. The top is completly open he used to mist but i dont know if he does anymore.

BTW if the eye thing isnt humidity related and was pushed in because of the cage will that heal on its own?

Thanks for the help.

i would be trying live small adult mice, or another rat of the same size. You want to feed the snake a prey item that is as big, as the biggest part of the snakes body. if it ate live, keep feeding it live until the animal is established. Then try working on F/T and other such prey items.

Get pictures of the eye. If it is actually damaged, it could lead to infection and kill the snake. It would need an IMMEDIATE vet appointment to treat the injury. Pictures do more good than words.

The humidity NEEDS to be at 50% -60% or so or he will continue to have problems. Bad sheds can lead to retained eye caps, and retained eye caps, if built up enough, can cause blindness and real damage to the eye.
Until he has enough experience, i would recommend he monitor every aspect of that enclosure, and not just guess.

Thats what he used to eat was either live or F/T mice, but been trying live more since he quit eating. Which now that i think about it is probably closer to 2 months since his last meal. Next time im over there ill try to have a camera. And it has been around 2 months since the snake last ate and its fairly young and small so i dont know why she wouldnt be hungry.

And I have 3 BPs, A RTB, and a brand new awesome Blood python. So i have some experience and have been doing my best to help but ive never had a problem like this.

Thanks for the help.
