In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, we used to post frequently on Fauna but we moved last July and gave up our collection after we lost our blackthroat monitor. We went to the Lititz show in November and ended up bringing home 2 columbian red tails. A male who is about 3 foot and a female(that's what the guy said, but I seriously doubt he knew) about 2 and a half foot. The female has thrived. She will eat and eat, is active and curious. She has grown quite a bit and is overall veyr healthy. The male on the other hand has stopped eating all together. he has not accepted a meal in over a month and a half. He is still active but is slowly losing weight. My fiance bought something (can't recall) and treated him for parasites. Their cage temp usually fluctuates between 84 and 88 degrees with a basking spot of 93 to 97. Any clue as to why he won't eat? Thanks!

Are the boas housed together? If so, or even if they're in the same vicinity, it's entirely possible that your male has romance on his mind instead of dinner.

It's not uncommon for males to go off feed, or dramatically reduce their intake from November until March or April. I have several males that are just now starting to feed regularly again after a winter of mating.

This is of course if you have ruled out anything physiological, such as respiratory infections, parasite infestations, etc.

If you do have them housed together, I would suggest separating them, as your female (if she is a female) is too young to breed.

Keep us posted on his condition.

Thanks!!

We were persistent, offering food every other day and he has taken two small rats in the past week. I am so happy!! We also seperated him from the female, I'm not sure if that had something to do with it. But he has a full belly now, and is active and healthy. Thank you for your advice!
