In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I've got a male fire who is almost 3 years old, plenty of size on him and he's been producing sperm plugs for ages. I've put him in with several females and I usually find him neatly coiled up on the opposite side of the bin from whatever female I put him in with. I've heard of rubbing another males sperm plugs on the females dorsal area to give her his scent but there has to be other ways to entice him, yeah? I'm sure other people have had issues with males before, what has worked for you? Like I said, he's been in with several females and has yet to show interest with any of them. This isn't to say there haven't been unwitnessed copulations, just that I'd rather have a solid idea that something's going on. Thanks in advance for your time and ideas!

I've never been one to "cool" my snakes as the past 2 years the winter weather just got them going.
This season the proven male black pastel was a no go, till this week.
What I did was take him off heat for 3 days(the room is heated at 70 degrees) and I let him "cool off" :)
The female he is breeding shed and I put him with her and within 24 hours I got several solid locks.

just a thought...

I would keep offering him up to every female you have ready a couple of times and rub the scent on the female, put the male sheds you save in with them. If you use paper liner I some times save that and switch it out in the females bin before introducing him. When you have a female that just bred a male and unlocked put the male away and throw the fire in and see what happens. Try misting them when you put them together.

Unfortunately I have a male I think is monogamous and will only copulate with one female. Some females may not be interested in him either so try opening up the options if you have them. I would think about adding a proven breeder fire to your collection if you are looking to produce some combos. They are readily available and cheap enough this shouldn't hold you back. Either way, I hope he goes for you, good luck this season.

Well here's to hoping, I've got another male in with him. Right now he's in with a (normal?) I bought a lot of normal females from a friend who was getting out of ball pythons but this female looks like a cinny or black pastel. I'll post a picture of her later on. Also, my male pied seems to be not overly interested in getting the job done either. *sigh*

I am having the same issues, I have homosexual males, bisexual males, monogamous males, and a-sexual males..They are all driving me positively crazy this year. :p

I tried that several times already Craig, no visible result. Not going to say nothing happened, just that I never wittnessed a lock.

So basically, you're saying even if they haven't gone off feed, take them off feed and cool them at night for a week. Then try putting them back in with females?

I don't take any males off feed on purpose, I'd just drop the temp to 70 ambient and no belly heat for 4 or 5 days and let him back in with his girlfriend.
After the breeding period return him to his enclosure and offer him food that evening or the next morning.

my snakes usually go through a 3 week cooling period night time drops 70 and daytime temps back to normal. just bacause they are off feed does not mean they are in breeding mode. most of my snakes do not go off feed at all they eat smaller meals i only have three that will go off feed and they are wild caught females just be patiant keep pting males in with females at worst you could seperate raise temps and start feeding for next season. goog luck

Several friends had told me in the past that changes in barometric pressure are key but good lord. I left a window open in my snake room and blamo, everything locked.

I would personally never drop a bp under 85. Even though the average temps in that part of Africa drop to about 73-74 F this time of year, below ground temps are several degrees higher.
