In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Boy this show is really on its way out. I attended today and it was like a ghost town. Maybe 7 tables with animals and maybe 7 more with dry goods. Only 3 tables with leopard geckos even on them. Where is everyone???

IRBA

Joyce, every IRBA (International Reptile Breeders Association) show I have attended as a vendor has gotten more expensive to rent a booth, and IRBA does very little to promote the show, so the turn-out gets worse. I have seen every show deteriorate over the years. Also, depending on the species, many vendors (including me) just don't have the inventory at this time of year to warrant the expense of the show.

Here's the scenario... all the vendors spend big bucks to rent a booth, and very few people attend, and sales are horrible so the vendors get frustrated and don't come back next time. Now, the word gets out that there were lots of great vendors with great animals at the last show, so the next show more people show up expecting to see all the vendors. But this time, there are far fewer vendors because their sales were down from the previous show, and booth rental went way up... and so on, and so on.

Understanding...

I have atteneded this show for 5 years, and each year has varied. Last year there were a lot of people and many people buying either dry good or animals. It just seemed that this one was the worst it has ever been. You had mentioned there will be a show promoted by a different group in November in San Jose. Any word on how that may be???
What frustrates me is I try to support as many local shows as possible but yesterday I drove 40 minutes there, spent $7 to park, $15 to get the family in and there was nothing there.
I think I will check the IRBA web site again and see if the list vendors so that in the future I don't waste so much. On the brighter side at least the kids got a nice car nap.
Thanks for the insight Marcia, let me know what area shows you think are worth attending.

Why in the world do they have the shows so early in the year? Do they expect everyone to sell holdbacks and/or breeders?
Well at least you guys have a show....(pout):(

Sacramento and San Jose Shows

Joyce, the San Jose Show will be Nov. 6-7, and is the first one at that location, but it is put on by the same folks that have done the Sacramento Show for that past 6 years (Aug. 7-8). I will be at both shows, and it will be the first time I have ever vended with them. They are quite finicky about who they allow to vend at their shows, and I have tried for 5 years to get in there but was kind of 'blown-off'. I guess persistence pays off, as I was 'invited' for both shows this year! Actually, they are very good friends with Julie at Gecko Ranch, and were reluctant to have other Leopard Gecko breeders in that might make competition for her. Apparently, it isn't a problem this year! LOL!

Sounds good...

I will be by in November to see you then. Let's just hope you have another one of those tangerine with the broken band tail.
Thanks for the information.
Joyce
