    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My friend found this in her house (which is near a stream/woods). Best I can figure, it is a juvie water snake. She has also found a 3 1/2 foot snake shed in her basement before. Figure I would post pictures here and get opinions. She wants to keep it, her son adores it, but if it is a native species, we know it needs to go back out.

Looks like you found yourself a juvie Northern water snake. Feed him small feeder guppies or rosy minnows several times a week and he should do fine for you. I don't think Ohio has any laws against keeping unprotected native herps so you should have nothing to worry about.

Enjoy....

Thanks :) I was pretty sure but not positive.
If you possess a native species, according to state law, you have to license it with the state and pit tag it when it reaches 18 inches long.

I stand corrected on your herp laws my book is out dated. If it was me I would let the kid keep the snake but you do what you think is right ;)

It's my best friends- she is not a snake person. She loves reptiles, enjoys snakes but hates feeding them rats/mice so maybe her son has a chance with this one :hehe: If it were me, I would keep it. Heck I told her if she finds any more, send it my way.
I personally am against the pit tag law, no problems with license but will NOT pit tag. Terry from Captive Born here in Columbus went to jail over not pit tagging his animals. Personally I think there are better things our government can spend money on than legislation to ban exotics. Right now HB 643 is a big issue here. Ahhh feel soap box coming on, will stop now before I go on a tangent.
www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=126_HB_643 is the link if you are interested in reading up on it. Pythons/boas over 8 feet are on the list.
