In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Nutritional value of rodent feeders?

One of the posts said to expose the brain matter of the mouse/rat, it's grossing me out just thinking about it, and when I brought it up to the hubs he said no! I don't mind feeding him live baby rats, I feel better about doing it that way than having dead rats in my freezer (between the cookie dough and the ice-cream) <gag> can he eat more than 1 per feed? Or should I feed him more often?

To be honest, you are not going to get a solid answer on this. I've read so many opinions on which is better that my head hurts. I would feed him one or two at a time right now than more often. I've heard a lot say that you should feed them after every defication, but sometimes my snakes take over a month to deficate.

Funny story about feeding live baby rats. Well not funny but sad. Last night, I pulled out several 10 day old live rats and was feeding them to my hatchlings and my male mojave decided he was too hungry to wait. He charged me and the rat upon opening his enclosure. He grabbed the live rat pup and didn't even kill it. He started eating it tail first while it was alive. There was a good thirty minutes of this screaming live rat being choked down from the rear. My wife and I got in a fight about "how I'm torturing these rats" and I how am "enjoying this" because I was watching. I really wanted to put the rat out of his misery but once they strike, I only get involved if it's a threat to the safety of the snake.
