In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

NYKC Herps, Bad People

Just like that you are no longer with them?
I thought you said you were "business" partners?

Why use instant messaging to hold a photo contest...i do not know.

Hey man, explain this:

Jeff:
you lied to the KC part of NYKC
Jeff:

Leopardgex15:
actually I didn't
Leopardgex15:
he asked how many I hatched I said 3, he is lying to make like he did not beg me to join partners with him

What's this about? Are you lying to us now?

Kenneth,

I think you've learned some viable lessons here, and I hope you'll take them with you as you go forward in this hobby or whatever other interests you develop.

1) Choose your associates wisely.

2) Don't lie. If you're indeed 16, why put a 1980 birthdate on your profile?

Good luck with your animals.

age 5: held a grass snake
age 7: saw a cute lizard in the zoo
age 9: got peed on by a friend's leopard gecko
age 11: watched 'Animal Planet' for 20 minutes
age 13: peed on again by the aforementioned gecko
age 14: gets first beardie
age 16: starts 'powerful', semi-literate, scamming empire
with ian and jordan.

LMFAO, You took the words right oughtta my mouth

As far as experience goes, what kind of practical experience can a 5 year old get? My family first got a dog when I was little over a year old. I did things like fill up the dog food bowl from a young age. I'm not going to claim I have 15-18 years experience with dogs. There's a difference between merely helping care for an animal, and being the primary care provider of an animal.
BTW, you're not the first I've seen claim a lot of experience for a young age. I first saw a 12-year-old claim 8 years experience. That just made me scratch my head and wonder what a 4 year old knows about caring for an animal of any kind.

no man, i had to do everything with my reptiles because my parents think that reptiles are stupid, and a waste of time. So i was on my own, i may not have bred them but i did have 2 female bearded dragons, and a green anole and i did everything with them.... except deive to the pet store.

Alright guys im not doin this any more. i admit i screwed up i teamed up with a kid who has turned out to be an... well butt. But i didn't know, he had lied to me and said he was big in leopard geckos he claimed to have sold many before at reptile expos. The site has been deleted, i nolonger talk to jordan/ ian. I have learned a lesson, trust no one. The jerk scammed people in the past and left for for the kill. Although i do not see what i have done wrong to deserve such critizism except team up with a dork, and curse a few times which i am sorry for. But come on, leave me alone you all have already ruined my reputation already 800 people have viewed this post on only the 2nd day. I HAD NO INTENTION OF "SCAMMING ANY ONE" AND I DIDN'T THE SITE HAS ONLY BEEN UP FOR A FEW DAY SO FAR. and it no longer exists so its over guys.

If all of that is true, then shame on your parents for putting animals in the care of a child that could not possibly give them the real care they needed! Even so, surely even you would agree that you did not gain any real experience in being a "herper" simply by giving whatever LIMITED care a child so young could have given, wouldn't you?

This trend of young people (or older people, for that matter) trying to beef up their reptile resumes needs to stop! It's fine to be new to the hobby. I think it's great to see people become newly invigorated about herps! What is bad is people lying about how much REAL experience they have. It tells me one of two things is true. Either:

a) This person has no concept of what REAL experience is, so I shouldn't trust what his insights might hold,

OR

b) This person is lying about something stupid, so I shouldn't believe anything he says ever again!

Either way, I'm not impressed with those who fall prey to the "I'm 20 years old with 15 years of experience" silliness. It may sound cool to the other 20 year olds you know, but those with real experience are just sitting back, shaking their heads at you all.

So, you don't want to put real information on this site for fear of (???) the internet kidnappers? But then you come on here and tell everyone how old you are anyway???

Tell you what, if you are really THAT concerned about letting others know how old you really are, why not just leave that portion of your profile BLANK?!?!?!? I'm sorry, but that's a really lame excuse you have there.

Regarding the age/experience issue.

I personally have had experience with reptiles since I was around 5. At the age of 4 we moved into a new home. And I soon discovered that we had dozens of garters in my backyard under rocks and logs. So every day I'd come home and catch some snakes, and frogs, salamanders, toads, and sometimes turtles. Then at the age of 5 my mom got me my first pet. A corn snake. It was a juvie when I got it and it lived pretty happily. I cared for it as anyone else regardless of what my age was. It lived in my care for I think almost 9-10 years. It got to be big and healthy. But then again I have always been a life long herper. And have always been abnormally obsessed with them. In first grade I brought in my big sister's ball python that I had enjoyed caring for and holding. In third grade I took in my corn. And I was always found flipping through books on snakes that I had stolen from the library. So don't assume all children are borderline retarded when it comes to herps. And if he was anything like me he probly does have 11 years under his belt. Age is not relevent to experience. Maturity is. I am willing to bet that he was indeed tricked by Ian, as many people have been. Ian and I had a chat yesterday in which he tried to convince me to renounce my views. And got upset when I didn't. Ian is the one to watch out for, not Ken.
Thank you.

Why would your parents spend the hundreds of dollars needed to properly set up bearded dragons if they thought they were stupid? Not to mention however much the dragons themselves cost in 1991. And they paid for all the crickets and greens and whatnot for 11 years? You couldn't legally have had a job to pay for this stuff yourself until 2 years ago. Maybe they were just nice, I wish my parents would have been that nice (all I got was a guinea pig).

WTF!!!!

Why is everyone bashing this guy?!?! If he's had a reptile since he was 5 and he is now 16 he DOES HAVE 11 years experience. It might not be the same experience everyone else has, but it is experience. He's seen how they eat, how much they poop, appearantly how they breed, lay eggs, ....

I get so sick and tried of those of you that think just because someone doesn't have albino ball pythons or 50 dragons or a multimillion dollar facility they couldn't possibly have anything valuable to contribute. I have no idea what transpired w/ the other two kids (and no I don't want to go read some thread). But this guy has apoligized for his mistake of dealing with them, and I think you guys need to back-up and rethink the way you talk to these kids. THEY ARE KIDS, THEY ARE ALLOWED TO MAKE SOME MISTAKES.

Brian,

I'm sorry, but I doubt there are many five year old children who could ever adequately serve as the primary care giver of ANY reptile. Let me explain, in part, why I see it that way.

Most five-year-olds have no real concept of the passage of time. Oh, they know about the basic ideas, but to a kindergardener, two days may as well be two months! They have no real sense of responsibility for anyone, not even themselves. They are usually incapable of (or at the very least, extremely hindered in) doing anything of an abstract nature, which would make taking appropriate meal size for a growing snake into account nearly impossible. There are countless other aspects of herping that primary care givers MUST be able to do, which five-year-olds are incapable of doing, but those alone show how silly the assertion is for one to say he has experience as a herper from age 5!

Quite frankly, just having herps in the house while one is growing up IS NOT having experience with them. No one really believes it is, except those trying to pad their reptile resume. So, I have to disagree with you on your assertion that a 16 yr. old who has had herps since age 5 has eleven years experience. You're entitled to your opinion, but let me ask you this:

A 16 year old gets his drivers license and drives the car home. Now, he's been in the car with mom and dad his whole life. He's watched how they do things for as long as he can remember, and he's played at driving for practice for several years. Every once in a while, Dad even let him steer the car up the driveway from his lap when the kid was five. So . . .how much experience driving does this kid actually have?

If you can answer that one "Eleven years," you'll be consistant, but I don't think you will answer it that way. Obviously, the kid in the example has only a few hours experience as an actual driver. The rest was just playing around . . .just like the five year old herper is just playing around with the animals in his parents' house, not gaining real experience.
