In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering about paperwork when a snake is sold.

I have paperwork somewhere on one of my Bps from the breeder he came from, now when he has offspring that I sell, what happens? Where does the paper work come from and whats included?

To better ask my question how does one create official paperwork that is proveable?

Thank you for your insight,

IMHO, there is no way genetics can be proven without DNA of the parents and babies. A dishonest seller (tse) can simply say the baby is the offspring of "X" or het for "Y". Reputation is everything in this business/hobby.

Reputation, reputation reputation

Dave, the most important thing is to do your homework before buying any hets that may come with paperwork. absolutly trust who ever you are considering buying from.

You can make up your own paperwork with a signed photo ID. print out a pic off your computer, add a little text to describe what it is and sign it.

Good point Melinda, I am trying to prove out 2 pair of TSE het clowns that I traded my high end leopard gecko collection for.

The crystal ball says I will have much disapointment in the future.

Dave,
Paperwork is worth nothing more than the paper it is. All you really have is a piece of paper that may (or may not) have a picture of a snake...and having it does not prove anything about the genetics of the snake. The only part that means anything is the name of the person providing it. If they are known and have a good reputation, then it is "good paper"; if not, well, it may as well be scrap paper, these days. Too many people have sold false hets with official looking paperwork (all that takes is a computer, and a little effort) - kind of sucks for anyone looking to break in to the recessive morph game, but what can you do. There are still people willing to give the new or little guys a shot, but some references sure will help.

If you are breeding het to het, take pictures of the pipping babies - showing the visual morph and normal looking sibs in the same shot. Ideally, have the date stamp on...and having a card with your name on it in the photo is a bonus. These things just add credence to the image - saying it is yours, and was taken on this date. You can post the pics in an online forum, and refer potential customers to it (via link), or just keep sending the pics to everybody that inquires.
If you are breeding a visual to a normal, make sure you get copulation pics.

Thanks for the feed back.

So if I understood this correctly, I don't in fact "need" the original paperwork from the breeder (it would help though). Photos and well documented snakes are what the casual person is looking for.

Documentation from the breeder of your snakes may be a plus - depending on what you anticipate producing...but unless you are selling the snakes you have the paper on, IMO it doesn't matter much. If you are working with 100% hets, you SHOULD (given a large enough clutch) produce at least one visual, which will speak louder than any paperwork you may have. If you don't produce visuals, the parents' paperwork may not be enough for potential customers (remember, if you breed 100% het x 100% het, the normal looking babies are only possible hets - they would all be marketed as 66% het, since there is no way to differentiate the hets from the normal sibs)

One thing to keep in mind is that people may want paperwork from you, as the breeder of the snake they are purchasing. Unless you are offering 100% hets, there really is no guarantee, and therefore not a whole lot of reason for paperwork (again, in my opinion)...UNLESS somebody buys all of the poss hets.

If someone is selling snakes that they didn't produce, and claim to have paperwork from the original breeder, then get the paperwork. It doesn't really guarantee anything, but without it you don't have any chance to make a claim to the original breeder.

Photo paperwork will let you know that you have the right snake, you can make sure there was no switcheroo.

Oh dude!! that sucks. And to add a bit more frustration for you, my TSE het girl x Albino male gave me 6 normal looking 100% hets. grrrrrrr!!

If I don't get at least one morph hatchling next season, I'm gonna do something drastic, like buy one. :reddevil:
