    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Oh no, another Newbie...

Just chiming in to say hi. I guess you could say, I'm coming back from a 4-5 year sabatical. Here's what brought me back. (warning- it's a little long with a cute ending)

My personal favorites are boas, pythons and monitors. Of the boas, I favor the Hypomelanistics, Anerythristics, Albinos and SunGlows. Of the pythons, I favor jungles, bloods and color morph balls. Of the monitors, I favor the Ackies (red/yellow) and Argus.

At one point, I had 20-30 herps (revolving stock) for 4-5 years and never bred anything. I had herp AADD. I would change my mind and sell/trade stuff, before I got a chance to breed it. Then my income changed and I could't afford $150+ pr/wk to feed the critters. I had too many favorites, to try keeping a few. So I sold everything. I told myself that I would not get back into herps, unless it was with albino boas. I had concluded the they were way out of my price range. So, it was an easy promise to keep. That was 4-5 years ago.

One month ago, my daughter decided she wanted a frog. That turned into a review of Reptiles magazine and trips to pet stores, to get caught up. Bad move, now I have the fever. So, I went to one shop (reptile store) asking about Pac-man frogs. As luck would have it, the owner had reptile show set up for the following weekend. The plan was set, to buy a frog at the show on Sunday. On Saturday night, I got a call from work (new job 2-3 months on) saying they needed me to work Sunday. Damn it! Time for Plan B, which was to order her a frog from the shop. The frogs were not readily available. So, I kept checking in, with the local shops. A couple of weeks later, still no albino pacmans.

One day (during the frog search) the G/F says, "there's a ball python from work, that needs a home". I gave in, and took the ball home, game over. It turned out to be an adult female. I found her a good home and ended up with 1.1 Anery boas. All of a sudden, I'm surfing online herp classifieds. The next thing you know, I added 1.1 albino boas (personal triumph). At the moment, I'm waiting for 2.2 hypo boas to be delivered. Somebody stop me... I have plans/dreams of breeding graduer.

... and what of my daughters frog?
She got a hamster instead... :D ...the care/maint of the frog made it not fun for her. :rolleyes:

I also returned to reptiles after a long absence. What a great story!!!! Welcome to Fauna!!!
Albino boas, that IS a triumph!!

Thanks for the warm welocme. I hope to learn a lot and grow up to be a productive board member. Ok, maybe that's asking too much. How 'bout I will try to play nice and stay out of trouble? :dgrin:

As I've been brousing various herp boards, I have a new love interest, SunGlows. I have pretty much blown my money on my 8 snake collection. Yet I want Sunglows in the project. Are there any breeders that take guns in trade? I would like to get 1.1 DH SunGlow. Why can't I have thousands of dollars in extra cash to buy all the COOL snakes? :nopity:
