    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just had one of my female cresteds lay a pair of eggs in the same container i use all the time. However, i used a new incubator case (A plastic shoe box like another one i use). After two days, i have noticed a small amount of mold around the eggs, like some type of very spindly white fibers.

( Its not very much but obviously there is something wrong.) (Oh, and i had some fruit flies in my room before but there gone now. im wondering if it had to do with anything either?_)

Another thing is that I usually use coco fiber mixed with vermiculite for the bedding of the egg laying case but since i couldn't find any around i used peat moss. Is that the main reason or what?:confused:

It sounds like either the eggs were "dud"/virgin eggs, or they were kept in hatching medium that was too damp.

Most people use vermiculite, perlite, HatchRite or Super Hatch to incubate their eggs.

With the vermiculaite, perlite, or Super Hatch you soak it and squeeze out as much moisture as you can, and put the eggs in. Then you open the lid on the box every few days just to get fresh air in.

I believe that the Hatch-Rite is pre-moistened.

I've heard of people using moss, but I've never heard about the results.

Is this your girl's first season? It so, she may throw a large % of duds...and even seasoned females throw them now and then.
