    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I bred this beautiful Daichu 100% het hypo male:

To this darling high red female ( no other information given):

25 Eggs laid, 1 slug, 11 light, 11 darker (tho still not red as I was expecting) and the other two did not make it out of the egg.


My questions are:

Why are they not red?

Does this prove my boy is 100% het for hypo?

What does it tell me about the female?

How would I market these babies (genetics)?

Husband and I having discussion and would like other opinions.

Looks like half the babies are hypo? I can't see the dam's nails. Is she hypo? Can't tell you about the color, but I would guess that you'll see some good color coming in soon. Both parents are pretty!

As far as marketing, about all you can do is explain what you know about the parents and leave it at that. Good luck with the clutch...and however many more she may give you this season, from this breeding!! ;)

Ok this was a duh moment for me, yes, the female does have clear nails so that makes her hypo. I am embarrassed to say I never noticed her nails and never thought to look. When I first got her last year she was scared of everything and very thin. It took a while for her to trust me and of course now she is just as big a baby as all the rest of them.

So from what I read that would mean my boy is 100% het for hypo and the female is Hypo. So the light colored babies are hypo and the darker babies are 100% het for hypo.

Oh my, when trying to get the genetics straight in your brain it sure helps to talk (write) it out.

Red dragons dont always produce red babies regardless what it was bred too.

It proves he is het hypo. Yes

It also proves she is HET hypo

How would I market these babies (genetics)?

Well the hypos are just that. there hypo. and the ones that are not hypo are poss het hypo. beings the parents are both hets.

Oh okay this is a game changer. The female is a HYPO

This makes your babies 100% het hypo

This was my first hypo clutch and was quite surprised when the first white heads started popping out.
