Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Mark, I'm with Brian. While it is a little better. It is not anywhere near the clarity
that it could be.
 
Can anybody help me fix it? I guess that this is the best my friend can do. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
 
that image has either been scaled up or has the image quality lowered on it. i suggest redesigning it from scratch and making sure the image quality is at 100% and that it is the exact size you need for whatever your using your banner for.
 
Send me the original photos that were used to make the banner and I'll see if I can throw something together for you quick. Also, It'd be helpful to know what font that is (I'm not that good at identifying them).
 
As a grafic artist I have to agree that it could be much cleaner. That logo is just why to pixilated. The problem is that it was probably done using a raster graphics program (i.e. Photoshop). That is why it is so pixilated. IMHO logo work should always be done in a vector based program (i.e. Illistrater). I would also recommend starting again from scratch as there is no way to clean up a pixilated image like that one.

while i wouldnt agree its neccesary to use illustrator to design your logo/banner it would make it infinately scaleble.

vector programs use math to relay thier graphics while pixel based programs like photoshop use small colored pixels. in illustrator you can easily shrink something down to size than back up again. with photoshop this is impossible without a quality loss being present.

i wouldnt run out and buy illustrator if all you have is photoshop. that will cost you almost as much as a mack snow (had to go there...lol!!). just be precise in you measurements and resolution when recreating your banner and you will have sharp clean graphics.
 
I agree completely that it is too blurry. Although there is a time and place for fuzzy pics such as this one

I just wanted to clarify that when I said logo work I was not referring to just a web site banner. To me a logo is something that needs to be scaleable so that you can use the same work to create a 3' x 8' banner for shows and then turn around and shrink it down to a 157k or less gif to include in classified ads. So if you are paying for a logo to be made then I would strongly reccommend that you require it to be done in Illustrator or some other vector based program. If, however, it is just going to be used for your web site then there are some very cheap and even some free raster/pixel based programs out there that work very well.

Here are a few of my attempts... obviously font/colors can be swapped out pretty easily if need be, I wasn't sure on the use. Also, they all look alike because I only had four images to use.

Yeah Mark sent me 4 images to get started with. What program are you using to do that effect on the text where it bands together but not completely? I've been using Fireworks for all my image stuff since I bought macromedia studio.
 
I am using straight photoshop on that one. I have been working with it for so long I have built tons and tons of my own actions over the years. That effect is done with wind I believe.
 
Gotcha. I need to get Photoshop for a change... everyone seems to use it and I know it's very customizable... I just really don't want to learn another program right now... I'm still working on my PHP and MySQL site (screenshot below, click to enlarge)
