Mirrors

This board, and the world, operate about the same; there are periods of quiet alternating with stormy weather. Sometimes, the thunder and lightening and all are just scary; other times they can be entertaining or beautiful.
Sometimes, during the stormy times that people have with each other, they can be moved to say things they might not ordinarily say. Usually, they are meant to hurt and often, they do.
If one steps back, takes a moment to take a deep breath and look, sometimes there is a kernel of truth in those hurtful words.
We none of us like to hear bad stuff about ourselves and the usual reaction is to be defensive which escalates behavior and it certainly shuts our mind to any insight the other person might have.
Someone, today, showed me something about myself here. Perhaps she is right.Sometimes the people who hold the mirrors may not be the most comfortable, but sometimes they lead us to good paths we might not have otherwise seen.

Lord knows you should not go looking for this kind of behavior, but when someone says something to you, about you, pretend they are a mirror and see if indeed there is a bit of yourself you think might be better done another way.
They may have given you a gift; but it is up to you to take it. We all grow as people throughout our lives; and growth happens sometimes in the most unexpected of circumstances.

Lucille you know that i like and respect you very much and love your auctions (spent a good bit of money there myself) and think your a joy to have around to lighten things up. I think Rich is lucky to have someone so eager to help out as you always are.
But (You knew there had to be a "BUT" ) I think you should insist to Rich that he gives you the point for the thread title otherwise people are going to think its favoritism and throw it is Rich's face if they ever get one.
Don't hate me, I have to speak my mind a say what i think is fair.

Rich, you've provided something awesome here, and thanks to Lucille for her help and enthusiasm.....and all of the great folks who post here ( I'd like to list more names, but I'm afraid I'd leave someone out that I truly want to include!), and help out, and be the "big mean" moderators....I think you're ALL awesome!!!

Webslave, Nicolai's logic is (as usual) unassailable: please deliver me another point.
When I get it, I will try to auction it off, just like I did the first one; to raise some money and have a good time. (I realize it is mine to keep, but the first auction was tres fun, I want to do something like it again).
All I can say is that Fauna will net a little from my misbehavior, but there are some others I could mention (but won't) that would bring in LOTS from auctioned warning points, lol.....
And I apologize for the rule violation and will try to do better in the future.

I think Lucille has done a good job promoting Fauna and has been a driving force with the Fauna Fund. Good job, Lucille! I also think Rich is a "good guy". Great job, Webslave!

What I don't like seeing is some people getting warning points, fines, and suspensions for not following the rules, while 'others' are allowed to post threads on the BOI without having to follow them! Lucille is in direct violation of the BOI rules regarding putting the name of the person the thread is about in the subject line, and this thread should be locked-down just like any other one would be that is in violation!

I personally say more power to her. I could never try to do what she has done and her enthusiasm is boudless. Is she entirely too cheerful sometimes? You betcha! Annoys the dickens outta me first thing in the morning! I wouldn't have her any other way!

Marcia, you are absolutely right. I am not above the law, and the law is what keeps us free. Whatever punishment is meted out to me, I will cheerfully accept, and I appreciate those who slip cookies to me also...

With time I have learned there are several kinds of individuals:

1. There are those that won't even bother to listen (they probably feel their time is more valuable elsewhere, and that's OK by me)
2. There are those that will listen to what you have to say but will disagree
with you (again they have their own ideas which I respect).
3. Then there are the ones that will listen to you, nod, maybe say nothing, but inside they still disagree with you (they don't have a better idea to offer, but still don't like yours).
4. Finally those that will listen to you and agree with what you say (aren't
those nice!).

So in reality 25% of the people you encounter daily will ignore you (1), nearly
half may not agree with you (2 and 3), and 25% will sincerely agree with you
(4). In any democracy the majority will win the presidential election. So hey,
if 49% or less of the people do not openly agree with you, I'd say you are in
good shape! One should probably start to get concerned when 50, then 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100% start disagreeing with your position. You should then "start to get concerned", and revise (but not discard) your proposal. Some will argue all this is bull "manure", they are those in group number 2 above, and that's fine by me too

Nope. Amid cries of "selective enforcement of the rules" and "bias and favoritism", I decline to give Lucille a warning post for this thread.

That is about the only benefit of being boss here. I can sometimes look the other way if I feel that action is appropriate and fitting. Besides, I made the rule so I know what it's intent is. It is intended to save people time so they don't HAVE to read a thread just to find out who or what it is about. I did not want people posting threads entitled something like "Watch out for this bad guy!"

And yes, on occasion I will even post threads myself that are here for no other reason then I KNOW that it is the only way to get most people's attention. When it has served its purpose, then I quietly move it to the section where it really should reside.

So no, there is no harm and no foul in this thread. So there will be NO warning points assessed for it. Besides, once I did that, I would also have to assess warning points to Chris Johnson for HIS thread and then watch the fur fly when I did that!

No, not really. Just a guy who had a bad idea several years ago and mistakenly hoping maybe tomorrow everything will be better.

I guess I'm just like everyone else. I just want to be over on the other side of the fence where the grass is greener.

No matter the flak you may catch from time to time, you know your ideas have brought many people knowledge, and saved a great deal of people from becoming victims. If you can no longer find satisfaction in your previous accomplishments at least let that be further motivation. You've done a good job, no matter our recent "differences". From the sound of your recent posts however I do believe it sounds as if you've fallen on some hard times perhaps, and if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. Dont hold my previous statements in the other thread as a personal attack, you know I made certain to state that it wasnt on numerous occasions and you also know that if it WAS a personal attack I would have been out for blood like usual This was not the case, regardless.... People have thier disagreements and differences. We would not be human if we did not. Good luck.

I have the "wall flower syndrome" as well but am gonna go for it anyway since I have not had my meds today..I am going to have to agree with Laura, Marica and others... Not a BOI topic, but would be perfect in the feedback area.. I do beleive that every forum is assigned a "bootysmoocher"... Maybe there should be a title for it or something so it is made alittle more clear... But I guess it already has... Anywho.. thats my o.2 food stamps..
