In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

As I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do. I have noticed that only the reptile side of things has be locked to paid subscribers only.

This may not be the place for this but I know the rest of the forum eats up time and webspace and bandwith.

So why only charge the reptile section?

I can't speak for Webslave, but my guess is that the reptile side eats up 98% of the time/space, which made it an easy choice.

My opinion is that you'd be hard pressed to find a better $10 investment than the use of the feature's on this site for the next year!

Here's how I came about my decision to pay for Fauna.
First I figured out how much money I likely saved by NOT sending money to people who had a bad guy thread where they sent dead animals or no animals at all.
Then I went a couple of days w/o reading anything on Fauna and only looking at KS (I don't like it much at all) and decided I really liked this site better than TV and KS.
Then I decided that if I ever do have anything to sell I'd like to try to sell it here.
Also a reptile show is only a few hours long and the admission is $6-8 and I pay that.

That's when I decided to pay for Fauna.

None of the other sections really ever cause me any workload. They are not all that heavily traveled, so they certainly do not eat up bandwidth enough to make a difference. I have yet to hear a single solitary person complain about the credibility of anyone posting in those sections. So for now, they are not on my radar map at all.

But I do expect some people will start posting inappropriate threads there since they can for free rather then the main BOI. That will get them warning points AND their thread deleted. I already had someone do that in the Canadian BOI.

Opie, aphid, atlas, whatever the heck your name is, YOU'RE STILL HERE.

Cool, glad to see you decided to stay.

Im still here, but Im just one of the great unwashed at this point. Im in self imposed exile from the B.O.I. I think Im better off not being able to run my trap on the B.O.I. since I seem to be able to keep my blood pressure down and do more productive web surfing without it.

Only reason I asked about threads being deleted without warning points is because I swear my St Patrick poll was deleted with no warning points given.

Maybe it was devine intervention.

Well actually you SHOULD have gotten warning points for it. I deleted it myself. If you want the warning points, I can make them retroactive..... :>poke2<:

Better be careful, Wes. The system is set to automatically ban you if you reach 100 points. When I set that limit, I never thought I would see someone reach that who wouldn't have gotten booted out LONG before that limit anyway.

You may just have to add another zero to that limit just for Wes' sake. :dgrin: He could get six more points with just one idiot who dosen't know better to not poke the bear. :>poke2<:

Wes was holding steady at 88 or so, but Simba got him rolling pretty hard toward 100. He is back in a pretty tight holding pattern at 94 though. Boy, what is Lil Petie popped up right about now?
