In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,

I am in the process of ordering shipping boxes. I had a question that I was looking for some opinions on.

I only ship small quantities of animals. I could get a 7x7x7 box and fit the deli cups in the box no problem. However, this size box would not allow for much extra packing, such as newspaper, or peanuts, which I like to use to give extra cushion to the animals inside. I was thinking the 11x11x7 inch boxes would allow me more room for extra packing. In your experience, is the extra money charged in shipping worth the extra packing places around the animals, or is it not?

Thanks,
Levi

I'm not sure if there's any kind of valid technical specifics for what I do, but for the peace of mind it's worth it. I usually end up eating the extra shipping costs, but again for me it's worth it for that peace.

I like to try and use boxes that are larger than the standard. (I also use the ones with the two piece styrofoam insert rather than the panels) My theory is that temperatures take longer to move if there's more air mass in there, whether it's cooler or warmer. And the extra room for cushioning I like as well. I want to give them every chance I can, to get there safely and with the least amount of stress possible. I'm not sure how many exactly I've shipped, but it's been quite a few and I've never had any issues.

For anyone who is interested, these guys have very nice boxes:

I really like the 8x6x7 for small animals, and the 9.25x9.25x7 for anything larger.
