    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If any of you guys have talked to my husband and I you know we're sand boa nuts. So we're kind of buddies with this guy (gentleman) named Scott Stark who also really likes sand boas. And also with this other guy named Scott Miller. We're kind of an unstoppable sand boa team. Anyway, Scott S. calls us up one day and asks us if we're interested in some Saharan sand boas (Eryx muelleri) for 55$ each from 'Southeast Reptile Exchange'. We said 55$ each? What's wrong with them?And who are these importers? They didn't even have a website. Scott said he had ordered from them before back in the 80's. And it turns out that he owns an imported Kenyan sand boa he got from them in like 1984 as a subadult- and it just had a litter this year. That sand boa is literally the same age as my husband. So we're thinking 'well, this place HAS to be quality'. So we put in for our pair along with Scott M. And they came in and they're flawless and eating on f/t despite the fact that they cost a third to a half of what they usually go for on the internet. They have all their eyes and everything. And I've been saddled with sub-quality animals from high profile internet wholesalers before. So I guess what I'm saying... the website or the high profile classified ad does NOT make the company! I've basically been an 'internet herper' except for the trade show that I go to. I wonder how many other completely awesome companies are out there that just don't get heard about. I'd post this on the BOI but I never acutally dealt with the company myself. Although I think i might in the near future, I got a pricelist :nuts: .

Erin B. and a few new friends

Erin, sounds like you got yourself a fantastic deal! I have often thought of our hobby in regard to the way reptiles are bought and sold. When I started out, I would pour through reptile magazines to get names and addresses of breeders and wholesalers. I spent many hours writing and sending letters for price lists. With the dawn of the computer age, that way of networking has changed. I feel the "web" has helped out in many aspects of communicating with other enthusiasts. It also has its drawbacks. Some people misrepresent their reptiles,some feel the need to charge what almost amounts to a retail price( or more)

I think one thing that gets lost sometimes is the fact that there still are dealers/wholesalers/breeders who are not on the web. These people still sell very high quality reptiles. I dont think of them as out of the loop, they just have a way of selling that works for them. Some people dont care for the internet, some arent"computer savvy", and some dont want the hassle of dealing with an internet sale. I personally know a few breeders who dont even have a computer. I realize the internet is a valuable tool for buying and selling, but personally nothing gives me the feeling of a face to face deal with someone.

It gave me a great feeling to read your post and see a fellow sand boa nut find a great deal through the old school way......... herpers talkin amongst themselves and finding an awesome deal !!!
