In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Eric usually isn't tooooo bad about the geckos, and actually calls them by name now that all the bins have tags on them. He'll go in and say "Hi"...I've even heard him baby-talk to a few of his favorites. Heaven forbid he actually help me take care of them. He's warmed up to them, but really, he wouldn't care if they all disappeared tomorrow.

My wife does not actively participate but will admit that they are nice. She also helped at our first show and enjoyed it so much that she has volunteered for next year! She has also been feeding them when I went away for a few days!

Sorry

Man I feel bad for people that can't enjoy their favorite things in life with a partner. Jeff and myself do the tank cleaning, feeding, water changes, holding, research. Vets whatever you name it! An thats for all of them. The Tarantula, Scorpion, Corn Snake, Gecko, Green Anole, Fishies and Frogies, the backyard forest, other multiple bugs. Barns, zoos. I also enjoy our creative conversations about our animals and what weve learned and what we think, and pictures. Our debates and he comes up with very creative ideas for the animals. He does the crickets though for the most part, when I feed them I catch the crickets with a cup. Everybody calls me crazy saying I can hold the Tarantula and Scorpion but not a cricket or a June bug. YUCK! I just don't like them. I tell everybody the girls are bigger and I like that. Even Jeff makes fun of me. Its not like if he was gone for awhile or something I wouldn't look like a mad woman with my hair straight up hunting all my escapes crawling on the floor saying "Your gonna get it!! Your special I'll give you to Ermac!!" (The Tarantula.) Anywayz. I am really grateful for JeffRye though, even if I do do more cleaning.

Mine is a keeper!!!

I am the animal one in the family. In twenty years my wife has learned to deal with the fish tanks, snakes, dogs, bobcats, coati mundis, tarantulas, praying mantids, etc. She did insist that the large pythons move when our children were born as they were in the spare bedrooms and the feeders were in some cases bigger than the babies. She has been a good sport through it all and has warmed up to and helped me with everything except the roaches. I don't think I can get her around that. She has just finished nursing school, a change from a career in accounting and human resources. As she progressed in the study of human medicine, she got even more into the animals. She does like my recent turns to leopard geckos and tegus. I am sure no one else on earth would put up with all my stuff.
PS: Just bragging, my son left last week to start college and yes, he is going for veterinary medicine. Don't know why he wants to work with exotics!!!!!
Thanks
Mark D. :lick:

I have no spouse. I really expect to get more flack about the tarantulas/scorpions/roach colonies than the snakes or the geckos. Hopefully I can find somebody who will share at least one of the hobbies with me, instead of merely tolerating it.

My wife doesn't really care what I keep, just as long as my room stays clean. :D

She does think that the cresteds are cool, but she doesn't seem interested in the leos at all. :shrug01:

Her favorite reptile in my collection is my 05 amel cornsnake that she bought me, I begged.

Which is very amazing considering that when I met her she was scared of snakes.

Cool, I finally get to play here!

Not only does my significant other work side by side, but he's a bigger herp geek than I am!! I just bought some new kids for his son Jared, and can I tell you all how long it's been since I've kept leo's and how darn confusing all the new morphs are??
Well, here's a pic of the new girls that will be arriving in Ga. tomorrow....thanx Kelli!!!

Wow, wow, wow. Beautiful animals. Amazing colors. Who, where, what, how if you don't mind sharing?

It's been a year since I started this thread.

At the time I had about 30+/- leos.

As of now I have 70+ leos, 3 AFTs, 8 cresties, and 1 n. levis levis. The growth of my collection has not made things easy around here, even though I was aloud to take up a nice size room in the basement and finish it off to house my collection.

The reptile hater seems to hate reptiles more now than ever. Even asked me why I bother showing him hathclings anymore.

Well he won't have to look at them much longer or me for that matter! hehehehe Bye Bye!!!!

As long as he doesnt feel threatened by my reptiles he could care less.I did find a home for my boa (traded her off for leos)and wont have anymore large snakes.Thats the only time he has ever complained about anything of mine.He doesnt mind the large lizards though. But generally doesnt even really look at my pets.
