In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Here is what the website says when I enter the tracking number.

7/14/04 10 : 51 am Shipment delivered. Canyon Park, WA

The buyer never emailed or called ot let me know how the snakes arrived. I emailed him later today asking about it but haven't got a response.

I give 2 hours to inform me of DOA's or problems and I guarentee the health for 24 hours.

I would like to know if the snakes arrived OK and if he was happy with them.

This ever happen to any of you - the buyer never contacts you after getting a package? This is a first for me.

It happens. Some people just are not considerate enough to extend this courtesy.
At best, I'd say 75-80% of people I sell to do inform me the animals arrived and of their condition, the remainder do not.
You can be sure though if there's a problem they will email immediately and get irate if you do not respond quickly enough.

I've never had an animal die during shipping, but I still worry about every shipment that goes out until I know they are safe.
It does aggravate me when people can't let you know the animals you worked to produce and get feeding are safe.
I usually add a note when I send them the tracking number to let me know when they arrive, but there's always those who don't bother.

Finally!
I got a reply to my email.
He said the snakes arrived fine and he is very pleased with them.

I think I am going to ad to my terms that I must be contacted the same day the animals arrive.

I do not like not knowing what happened to the animals after they leave me.

I have never had problems but it's still nice to know they made the trip alright.

How do you plan on making people do that? To me, it would just make the terms seem silly, since there is nothing you can do if they don't email/call you.

One thing you could do, if you have a cellphone w/ long distance, or a land-line with a good long distance plan is require anyone buying from you to provide a phone number, so you can call them to be sure the snakes (or whatever) arrives.

I realize I can't make people be considerate so I won't end up actually putting that in the terms. I just wish people could send a quick email or make a phone call. My full contact info is included with the terms/ID sheet I send with the animals.

Steve, Just add something to your terms stating if you are not contacted within 'X' hours of arrival (regardless of condition), any and all guarantees are voided.

I'd say less than half of the people we ship to never let us know when the animal arrived. A lot of times, a phone call will wrap things up.

no news is good news

With every shipment I ask the buyer (repeatedly during our e-mail exchange) to notify me upon receiving the package as well as the status of the animal. So far I don’t recall one instance when I wasn’t notified. On the other hand, if the seller is not contacted within the guarantee timeframe, he should probably assume everything went fine and move on. In MHO this is the situation where most of the times "no news is good news".

Kindly,

I've only had it happen once, and it still gives me an uneasy feeling. It was a PayPal situation, we had agreed on a ship date about 4 days later. I emailed the day before shipping to confirm, got no reply. Re-read the initial email with the requested ship date on it, and decided to ship anyway. Sent the tracking number, no reply. The same day I sent the shipment, I see a thread about this person from someone else, that they had won an auction and then never contacted them to send the animal. Now I was worried. I watched that tracking number like a fiend the next morning, and sure enough, the package was delivered before 10:00 a.m. I sent ANOTHER email saying "I see they arrived, please let me know how they are", no reply. I tried again a week later, a "just checking to see how things are going with the new babies", but no answer. I finally gave up, but I'm still uncomfortable about the deal.

I guess all that is just to let you know that I really know how you feel, and I'm glad you finally heard something!
