In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

1. is that walnut substrate?
2. why can i see their hips bones, ribs, and no fat pads?
3. why are they housed together?

everyone on this site really jumps to conclusions....

question 1---no that is not walnut substrate, it is brown repti-cal

question 2----the female looks thin because that was the day that I first got her, and she was rather on the slim side, she has added a lot of weight since I have had her.

question 3----they were in the same tank for one night , the first night I had the female in order for me to get her tank's temp correct.

anything else?

what size are they? length, weight, etc? What is their lineage?

I prefer to use non-particle substrate like tile and carpet and shelf liner. If you must use unnatural sand, then get washed, sifted playsand. Reptisand clumps, lining their intestins and stunting their growth and slowing killing them of lowterm impaction, that is when you are lucky enough not to lose them overnight to short-term impaction.

female 14 male 17 inches Don't know they weights as I don't have a scale big enough for them, i've only got a scale for my babies. As far as the lineage i really don't know their backgrounds as I got them both from two seperate breeders.

1. that female is too small to be bred, ever.
2. the male is too small to be bred. ever, IMHO.
3. Weights are extremely important to know if you are a breeder. keeping track of female's weights during laying is as important as weighing babies you are selling.
4. If you don't know their lineages, they are worthless as breeders.
5. if any dragons have been raised on reptisand, they are not long for this world.

in conclusion, they should be sold as pets or put out of their misery.

Um, wow Sara......"put out of their misery"????

Just a tad bit harsh, aren't we????

I've seen way too many sad looking beardies that produce sad looking babies to be sold for $15 so the cycle can start again and lowball the whole market so anyone with actually good, healthy, colorful dragons doesn't have a chance. it kinda reminds me of the eyeless snake. why sell it as a breeder if it's defective?

I don't like the condition these dragons appear to be in either Sara, but not selling it as a breeder is a long way from "putting them out of their misery". You call them defective, but who's to say that under different circumstances, they could not bulk up and be happy, healthy dragons? Can I ask what leads you to believe that they must be "defective"?

you're right, that was over the line. I'm sorry for the 'out of their misery part'. i'm hot and sticky and rather annoyed at everything tonight. But cumon, 14" and he's selling it as a breeder? i agree they bulked up from when he got them, but they still have no belly on them and a good breeder shouldn't sell any animal that isn't 100%.

first of all the female has not been bred....yet. How can you say she is too small to breed ever, its not like she is not going to get any bigger. And they haven't been brought up on reptisand only the male has been living on it, for no more then 4 months, and I know excellent breeders that keep ALL their dragons on it and have NEVER EVER had a problem. So why dont you stop going into a for sale post when you aren't at all interested in buying anything just so you can put your little smart comments in, I understand if you are trying to help, but you are simply put just be rude and immature.

I agree completely, Sara. She could POSSIBLY be a "future" breeder, but at this point, no. I didn't see an age listed for either Beardie, I'm guessing she almost looks like she's still quite young and with good food could do a lot of growing yet.

and as far as selling them as breeders, all i said was the male is a proven breeder BECAUSE HE IS, i never said anything about the female being a breeder. So thanks but no thanks for the comments

Sean, I think Sara was assuming that the female was supposed to be of breeding age, since you did not put an age on her....or at least one that I saw. How old is the female?

And yes, though I do not recommend using Reptisand, there are people who have been lucky enough to use it for a long time with no ill effects, simply being on it does not necessarily "doom" them, though for safety's sake there are much better options available.

Eh, I looked back through the ad for an age......but I guess I failed to note that the TITLE OF THE AD states they are both adults.....therefore one WOULD assume they won't be growing anymore.... :slamit:

" I know excellent breeders that keep ALL their dragons on it and have NEVER EVER had a problem."

Let me know who they are so i never buy from them.

"you are simply put just be rude and immature."

Rude? perhaps. but immature? this coming from a dude a year my senior and 10 years behind in care and breeding of beardies. Yes, "i have been breed beardies" for only a year now, but i can run circles around you in knowledge.

He's a breeder and you have no idea what his lineage is. him = worthless, his babies 2X as worthless as i doubt you even checked to make sure the parents were unrelated.

Since he doesn't know their lineage, i doubt he know their hatch date. the female could be 1 1/2 and we have no idea.

I must agree with Sara, the repti-sand is bad stuff, and a adult female that is only 14 inches will never make a good breeder.

I will give you a good example. They put a beardie on the cover of the bag. but does this mean it is good for them, or are they trying to sell a product?

The same goes with repti-bark, they say it is great for iguanas, is this true? NO WAY!! They are trying to sell that product. I know of many, many iguanas that got impactions from that stuff.

Think of the two animals (lizards) sold quite often in the pet trade, Iguanas, and beardies. It is all about the money, not what is best for your pet.
