In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have just noticed something odd on one of my babies piping now.
I bred a male Hypo Het Ress.Leather Het Trans to female who is
red flame/red desert/ blood/hypo red/orange x orange.
OK question is since she is not a carrier of leather at all.
None should be leathers correct?
A ress.leather must be paired with another het leather to produce leathers or a leather correct.I just read link from dichu.
Well the odd thing is I'm pretty sure i have a babie hatching now that is half leather or smoothe and half non lol.
take a peek and tell me what you think ??::eek:
err camera died as took 1 pic.
Will get more to you all asap but the head down to where looks wetiest on his back is super smoothe and then half way down back both sides get spiker from what im able to see.
Another hatched alongside this one and is very rough indeed and the first clutch produced nothing smooth?

Mat,
I think you may have created something new? Could she be a mirco-rough scaled (normal) cross? that what she sounds and looks like very cool animal. You just tell she is not leather and defenetly not a rough normal scaled dragon

Any number of things could cause an anomoly like this. 1 out of 1 breeding does not make it something new. It could have been caused by something during the incubation process or a genetic defect. Give it a few weeks to see how it ages. Then take more photos to figure out what is going on. I have had severly reduced scale dragons randomly pop from a normal cross (talking 1 or 2 out of 40-50 eggs) so it is not unusual. give it time and see what happens.

Had the same thing happen too. I even contacted Calico Dragons to find out what was going on. Both parents are normal and yet the first clutch ever produced 3 reduced scales that look like leatherbacks. The next clutch six months later produced another leatherback and then the others had reduced scaling. I kept a female out of the first clutch to watch her grow thinking maybe in time the spikes will come, but they never did. I was told it was due to incubation problems because I did have alot of problems with the first clutch, but I had NO problems with incubation on the other 3 clutches six months or so later and I still produced them with the same parents. I bought a leatherback male recently to breed with my hold back female to find out if it is genetic or not because if it is then I should produce some silkies if Im correct. At this moment I am growing out the male, so I will post something when everything is ready.
I was in shock that 2 normals produced a leatherback not just once, I had 3 in the first clutch and then I had 4 in the second clutch and 2 in the third clutch. I have pictures of StarFire as my avatar on here and she is the reduced scale (leatherback) female and I also have the 2 in my red babies album too.

BETTER PICS

Yep this one is micro scaled to full scaled lol really nice.
check it out :)

last pic is a sibling whos spikes are allll nice and uniform i like this one may hold to see if can make nicely uniform scaled dragons :0 who knows lol:thumbsup:

I was asked to come and update everyone on these two babies! They arrived at my place on Tuesday along with 8 of their siblings and they're doing great. Both Matt and I think the scale pattern will stay the way it is but then again they have yet to have their first shed. :p

I will provide some big pics so the pattern and scales can be seen easier.

Here's the one with the uniform scales:

And here's the smoothie (he/she also has a near perfect racing stripe!):

Awsome Thanks your cam is way better than mine lol.
I think im going to keep dad and try another combo or 2 with him.
so in the next yr or so be on the look out for more racing stripes and mabe
Tigers of a diffrent color ;)

This camera can be stubborn when trying to focus in on stuff close up but it works great when I can get it to! Lol.

I think I'll be crossing one of these holdbacks with a rainbow tiger from Draggintails (if I can cough up the money lol) and the other with a translucent leatherback or hypotrans leatherback. :D We'll see though. It's still too soon to tell their genders so I don't want to get ahead of myself. Haha. :p

Keep me updated on what you're gonna do with Big D! I'll be very interested in more of his babies. :)

Pic of uniformed scale holdback #1 post shed. He kept his beautiful scales and he's looks amazing. :)

Also #1 looks like a male and #2 looks to be a female! :)

Updated pictures after shed!

The racing stripe girl looks AMAZING! She appears to be getting the powder blue side bars from her dad. And the greens on her are just...WOW!
