    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

In my opinion it all depends on the price of the reptile. If I'm buying one normal baby ball python, I would rather see the price for the snake itself. For example $80 plus shipping. It makes sense because the cost shipped will inflate the final price delivered by 50%. Again heat packs, box, etc. bear a heavier weight in a lower priced animal. The question arises when a $2,000 animal is for sale and the seller asks for shipping ($40), and Pay Pal fee ($60). The total amounts to 5% in addition to the asking price. From a buyer standpoint it looks better if he would ask $2,100 with free shipping and no fees added.

My favorite is when people come into my store and want things for the same price they can get them on line. The conversation usually goes something like this.

I can get this for 40 bucks on line, you want 60, will you match the price?

that depends, do you have the add with you?

No

Then sorry I can't match it.

they walk out in a huff.

or

Yes.

OK, it says here that shipping is 6.00, I will ad that on.

Why?

Because you are not really getting that item for 40 bucks you are paying 46 to get it into your possesion.

Oh, you want express overnight shipping, that's going to cost you an additional 14 bucks

I figured I would run into that at the store all the time, and I was going to use shipping to add to my argument. But I will be honest I hadnt even thought of saying "come back in two days" thats just hillarious.

those fees are illegal in PA too???

i don't see many reptile ppl doing that at reptile shows but when i go to the computer shows, every single vendor has a cash price and a cc price.. the cc price is always 3% higher.


where exactly can i get a copy of this info saying its illegal..

You can get more information from Mastercard and Visa themselves. Below is a link regarding surcharges and a short statement about them from the link. You can also contact your Credit Card company and they will give you all the information and places to contct regarding that. Also you can try contacting Card Service International. They are one of the largest merchant Account services in the US and can offer more information on the surcharges. (800) 456-5902
