In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Patience is a virtue...

How is everything? I'm so concerned for you, and can't imagine the stress you're going through... have you called the vet yet?

gave her a place to soak but she ignored it. Finally soaked her overnight myself. no change yet. The slugs that are still in there, not anywhere near the vent. She looks about ready to pass the meal she ate, here's hoping it helps get the rest moving along. If still nothing, I'll see if my boa breeding pal can come over this weekend with the ultrasound. I'll be speaking with my vet next week, regarding my sick boa Cinnamon, so I'll mention this issue and see what he thinks (I'm sure his answer will be 'bring her in for an exam'... lol)

Do you want me to send you my doppler? I know that's of little possible use, but if you want it none the less, I'd be happy to lend it to you. Have you considered a full sized meal? Like a jumbo rat?

Thank for the offer Katie, that's very nice of you. If my friend can't come over, I'm sure the vet would be happy to check her out (he loves taking my money, heh).

I want to share some GOOD news for once.. the one little baby that was born shed a few days ago and last night I offered him/her the first meal, a f/t mouse hopper. Wouldn't take if off tongs but I left in the cage for a few hours and ta-da - it was eatten! yay! I love it when the babies take f/t right away.

Glad to hear some good news come from your story. Hope to hear more good news soon!!

Sweet! Always nice to get a little cheer from an otherwise worrisome situation.

Are you sure she retained something? Just got to thinking some more, is a Doppler going to show more then if there is a viable offspring? Slugs don't make much sound I'll wager. But an experienced vet can tweak X-Ray settings to get slugs to show up just fine. LINK
Or possibly ultrasound would show it too?? IDK.

Good luck at the vet. Keep us posted.

no updates, no changes. I'll just keep soaking her every few days. Got swamped this weekend and wasn't able to call my friend with the ultrasound yet. Life! ug.

So here's an update - the one baby is still doing great.

My boa breeder friend came over to check out Vegas yesterday for me and palpatated and confirmed he believes there is one big slug stuck in there. He's dealt with this before and said it looked just like the other boa that had this happen (that one didn't make it). I have not fed her a second meal, I am too worried that she won't be able to pass the feces and it could go septic inside of her. She still passes urates fine, I've been soaking her once a week. Since myself and my buddy were messing with her and trying to push the slug out (no luck), she's been showing discomfort. I soaked her again last night but she's still holding her tail where the slug is in a strange manner and not moving it very well, so I made an appointment for the vet on Monday at 10:30. I'll post another update after the vet visit. Hopefully she'll hang on until then, it was the earliest I could get in. Thanks again for all the well-wishes!

Wow. Unlucky name for her :( (ill keep the joke at bay till she gets better) keep us updated!

well she got the name Vegas because I drove all the way out to Las Vegas to buy her and back then, I wasn't very imaginitive when it came to naming.

Also sorry to hear this April, I've been following this thread with baited breath. Hope the vet can do something for her, do keep us informed.

(Don't suppose the time honoured "bring on birth" activities of drinking gin and running up and down stairs is really a viable option for Vegas, but maybe it'd relax you some????)

Ok, I'm ready for a big glass of gin and tonic! lol

Just got back from the vet. Xrays were taken, those were very interesting. It's sad because it's my snake but still very fascinating to see.

She has a slug stuck (as suspected). After my friend palpated her, she started holding her tail weird, I was afraid he broke a bone in there. The good news is she's holding her tail funny just because she's uncomfortable and NOT because of any broken bones, there are no broken bones. Now the bad news... all behind the stuck slug are babies, babies that are almost certainly all dead by now. One of them is even stretched over the stuck slug, it tried to pass but got stuck as well. UG! So.. looks like there were at least 7 other babies but because of this one large slug she wasn't able to pass any of them. There were some dark pockets on the xray which indicate gas buildup... either it's normal gas in her intestine or it's gas from the decomposing babies. It's sad to see those poor babies that didn't make it.

So... plan of treatment: I have anti-biotics to give her. My vet advised me to try to push the slug back UP her (instead of out) which if I can do it, will allow all the babies to come out, then hopefully she can then pass the slug. I also have to give her an enema, which I've never done before so if anyone has tips that would be greatly appreciated. The only other option is surgery which the vet advised would be lengthy and difficult and I already know I cannot afford that option. So.. I suspect she's got about a 20% chance if I'm able to palpitate the slug back up. I'm going to give it a shot and hope for the best but I am prepared to have her euthanized if it comes down to it.

So that's the update. At least I have a plan of action and I feel so much better knowing what happened and what is going on inside of her. My vet is going to try to get me a digital copy of the xray which I'll be happy to share with you guys, it's very interesting to see.

Thanks again for the well wishes all, I'll post an update when I have one, good or bad.
