    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Patience is a virtue...

Soaking seems to help with turds at times. It's about almost the same isn't it? :shrug01:

That's exactly along the lines of my thinking as well. So... I have her in a soaking tub with a heating pad and will hope that helps her pass what is left.

Do you have a reputable herp vet that may be able to come to you? do you have a fetal doppler?

I do not have a fetal doppler. I do have a terrific vet close by that is currently treating a sick boa I have... he's quite pricey and the last vet visit for my other boa wiped out my savings. If I have to I will find a way, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Thanks everyone that has offered advice and support and just followed along with the drama.

Onto brighter things for the time being.. here is the little baby. So far, she's had this one baby and 6 eggiwegs (slugs). This little one looks like it's ready for a meal already!

Aw April, the little guy is gorgeous! I hope that mama is able to pass the rest of the babies or slugs out. I am keeping you in my thoughts :).

Fingers are crossed April, that one baby you've got so far is a stunner!

thanks guys! Yeah, I think this little one is pretty cute too! Really takes after mom instead of dad.

She had a 6 hr soak (I was up and checking on her every 2hrs) and she did pass a small amount of feces. The mass you can see in the pic straining at her vent has moved back up where it was before.. talk about weird!

On the other forum someone is going through the exact same thing and their vet did ultrasound which showed alive babies still in his girl... so I'm just hoping she dropped these slugs and one baby a little early and there's more to come.

When I put her back in the cage, she was fine and didn't seem distressed at all. I'll give her some time and hopefully the rest will come out when she's ready. If she starts to seem like she's going downhill I'll take her into the vet. I'll post an update when I have one.

:)

Also along the line of turds, you know how they say don't give them normal size meals further into gestation because they may defecate and shoot out a premie. Think in this case a normal meal, if she took it, might help?

Just something that popped into my head this morning when I read your post.

She's in labor again, so far another slug has been passed. I'll post an update when she's done.

Geeez. I will be checking this in the am.. hoping for better news..

I am glad you got one, healthy looker so far hun

*sends good, baby passing thoughts*

Still sending good vibes your way. I have a fetal doppler and gel, and wish there was a way to get it to you right away

Hope alls well April "no news is good news"? :(

GIRL.. you better hope that you are just sleeping in.. cuz I told you I would check.. and here I am.. and now I have to go to work for 9 hours..

If there isn't an update.. when I get home..

Ima come whoop some rear end.. (and not in the fun way)

lol

Hope to see some happy news when I get home!!!!

there was no change when I went to bed last night (sorry Brandi!). No change this AM either, she passed only the one more slug. Appears to still have something in there, not sure, but she's not straining. Talked to one of my local boa friends who might be able to come over with ultrasound later this weekend.

oh April, I'm so sorry.... I know what you've been going through with Cinnamon, and now this... I can't imagine how stressed you are, cause I'm stressed over this mama, and she's not even mine. PM me if you want my number just to vent or something, k?

Wish I could help with birthing advice (give her a good strong gin?) but did think about your shining lights problem - I know turtles can't see red light, so maybe snakes can't either - if so, putting a red piece of plastic or crepe paper over your flashlight would make it easier to look in without disturbing her.

no update, nothing's changed. Timing didn't work out for my friend to come over with this ultrasound. Since she ate last week, I'm waiting to see if her BM will help get the rest of the slugs moving out. She passed urates yesterday and will be getting another overnight soak tonight.

Have you tried just putting a soaking tub into her viv, rather then a forced soak?

Sure hope it all goes well for her and you. Good luck.

No, I have not tried that... but you know what? I think that sounds like a good idea, the less stress, the better. I will give her a tub in the cage tonight and if she doesn't soak, then I'll put her in a tub tomorrow during the day. I've been misting her 1 or 2 times a day and she seems to appreciate it (instead of trying to run from the water like she normally would).
