Well, after some time..my incubator is not holding the same temps from top to bottom. I have roughly a 4 degree difference between the two. Lucking its only leopard gecko eggs, so they'll be fine. I guess I'll have to add some sort of heat panel to the bottom to even it out. Its not worth emailing paul, because we all know nothing will be done.

Is there a way to let KS know about this guy, so maybe they will ban him from selling there? That would certainly benefit everyone in the reptile world.

With the temp problem you can try to add a couple small computer fans to fix that.

I would gladly do so if I were personally affected here.

Did he flat out refuse to fix your 'bator? Although it's likely that he won't do anything for you immediately, you have to give him the chance to respond about it.

It sounds like you may have resorted to assuming that he won't help--only because he doesn't seem to help any of his past customers. I would assume the same thing--but you still have to tell him of your issue directly, in my opinion. Then you can report him.

He sounds like a shyster until I see otherwise.

P.S. Also had another past customer/friend bump into this thread and steer clear for cage purchases. He said he enjoyed the thought about using foster kids to raise capital.

Kyle...sorry about your ongoing ordeal. You sound like a patient man. it's bad enough that you get ripped -off, then you have to suffer through this jerking around. I hope Edwards comes to his senses and takes some positive action to make amends to you. He doesn't realize it but his world is shrinking, and he'll soon find himself alone without the ability to enjoy his hobby/avocation. On the other hand, he has the ability and means to make amends, face his responsibilities, repair the damage he has caused...and repair the damage to his own reputation to some degree.

I hate that this guy has done this to you. I have dealt with him and had the deal go wrong in every way one could. We bought a VPI axanthic MALE from him in 2007. It was my dream to start a axanthic project. I got the snake and he ate and looked great. We believed things to be okay. Well, 3-4 months later I get an email from him saying that he was told by a friend that the axanthic was Jolliff NOT VPI. I was so pissed. Everyone on here knows these lines cannot breed together to make axanthics. He even tried to put things off on Tracey Barker saying it was her male he used to breed and she couldn't remember which line it was. Tracey offered to send me one of her's to replace his **ck up. I thanked her but told her Paul was going to make this right and that it was not her responsiblity. We went back and forth for months. Finally we agreed he would refund the price difference b/t the 2 lines at that time. It took awhile but he finally did that. I never posted this story and decided to let it go and hope he gets what he deserves in time. And as I can see he is finally getting it. I also found out a year after we settled our deal gone bad that it was a she and not a he. So I grew the snake up as a male for a year and was at great size for breeding as a male but them found out it was a she and now I put off yet again on this project. Not only it is a she I still have to find a way to prove the line of this snake before I will ever be able to sale any of the babies.
I hope he makes things right for you. Paul you are right, reputation is everything in this buisiness and I am sorry but yours is ruined. I am only telling my story now to show he is not a guy to deal with on cages or reptiles.

I am contacting you privatly to make you an offer to rectify your incubator situation apart from the BOI. I'm not satisfied with any of my products being out there that are not working right and didn't want it to appear that I was making the offer because of the pressure from the BOI. I wanted you to know that I would be more than happy to make for you a heat shelf to put inside your incubator that will take care of the 4 degree difference in the temperature from top to bottom. I will make and it and ship it to you at my cost.
If you would like for me to do that, please give me exact inside dimensions of the incubator I built for you, just to make doubly sure it is correct when you receive it. Please respond as soon as possible.

He has a poor reputation amongst many. I purchased two enclosures that he advertised for $2500. The lead time was 30 days. About 6 months later he finished. During the course of this build he suggested many upgrades. Like a fool I agreed to these "upgrades" and paid for every one of them. The enclosures were nothing like he advertised and completely useless to me. On day one the wheels collapsed. You really need to see how they were secured to believe it. We specifically discussed the nest boxes and how important it was to eliminate any gap as dwarf monitors are escape artists. Guess what? There are gaps and my Gilleni escaped on day two. He committed to fixing this issue, never followed through, and went silent.

Now I'm stuck with two $2500+ enclosures that are useless to me. I've been trying for months to sell them for $400, shipping included. The only responses that I receive to my ad are responses from people who have been burned from him. They're about to go in the dumpster.

Sounds like you guys are friends, which is cool. It doesn't change the fact that he's unethical and uses down payments to pay personal finances. Yes, he did admit this to me and actually used it as an excuse for the delay.

User 3240-I have seen your monitor enclosures on ks-and I have seen them on here-I agree, you were ripped off. Attempting to copy Habitat Systems designs with casters, etc. was done poorly. I own HS cages and am familiar with their designs to some degree. On multiple unit cages they either extend the sides down so as to function as a pedestal-or the sides end and the edges are finished with a strip of Plastic to cover the hollow panel. Thus, casters are probably the type with a four screw plate and are attached directly to the bottoms of the cages. If there is additional support-I know not-as I do not own any units with casters.
You could use the appropriate saw to remove the side panel ends and make the bottom flush-and wrap the edges with adhesive and the appropriate plastic. Then-you could affix the proper casters to the bottom of the cages.

Under the tubs-you could place a piece of tempered glass over the heated block the raises the tubs-thus removing the gaps. As for the plug nightmare and poor wiring-I would remove it all and put in your own porceline pancakes, etc. and wire it directly out the back panel.

Who is going to pay for the parts and your time? I think Mr. Edwards should. I think you should also be reimbursed for a large portion of the cage as well as the shipping.

The cages are salvageable if you are going to take an outright loss, but yes, they are a poor attempt at copying habitat systems. For the price-you should not have to modify the units at all-period. But now, modification might be warranted.

I have been burned on prototypes from a different cage manufacturer-but i have modified them to function-for now.

How many breaks do you think he deserves? I have 2 worthless incubators that cost about $1300. Not to mention the $1100 cash he owes me. I guess I'm just an intolerant Bad Apple who thinks people should live up to their word.Perhaps you should read the whole thread and then comment.
