• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Paypal scam?

Heck I get these all of the time. I figure the safest thing to do is to just forward the email on to [email protected]. That way I am covered no matter what. If for some reason it is not a scam, then it is on record that I THOUGHT it was a scam and sent it on to them as such. If it is a scam, then not only do I get verification, but it also gets them right on the road to shutting it down quickly before someone does get nailed by it.

This happens a LOT! So either someone is VERY persistent or there are a lot of people trying this sort of thing.

BTW, this thread really is not valid being on the BOI. It will be moved shortly to a more fitting area.

In fact I got one from SouthTrust Bank just yesterday. Too bad I don't have an account there! LOL.

The whole thing was a picture, but there was some text that was in white so it couldn't be seen. I guess that was so it would go through the spam filters and not show as being "textless". I highlighted the hidden text in one of the screenshots and the original is the other.

The link leads to a non-SouthTrust site, of course.

I got that one last week...

I also got one from...hmmm...to tell you the truth I don't remember...EXACT same thing...different bank...

I pulled up the html code from the 'picture' and sent it to the bank...with the FULL header info...

Hopefully these guys all get caught...
And shot.

I too have gotten a lot of these emails in various forms. However, one thing you REALLY need to be careful about.....there was one going around awhile back that if you clicked on the link, it was able to download some kind of trojan onto your computer as well as possibly retrieving your info if you were naive enough to give it to them. I don't remember the specifics on the trojan, it's been awhile...and I'm no computer genius by any stretch of the imagination.....but would suggest if you clicked on the link, run your virus scan just to be on the safe side.

I follow a simple rule on opening emails. If I don't know where it is coming from or if it's not expected, I don't open it. I figure if it's from someone legit they will write back if it's important enough. Or contact me another way.

I got this email this am.
