In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm not sure what the difference is - isn't paying with paypal making a payment?...or were you referring to a payment plan/incremental payments?

I haven't been having any problems with my account - sending or receiving payments. What issues have you been hearing about?

I'm having no problems sending or receiving payments and have not heard of any mass exodus from their offered services. Where are you hearing of these problems?

Some people don't like that PayPal takes a small fee when a business account receives a payment & that it violates PayPal's TOS to charge more for using their service. That is foolishness, IMO because any credit card service takes a fee...in addition to a monthly service charge (in most cases).

Also, there are some limits, restrictions, and unpopular policies regarding complaints/disputes...kind of a lot to get into here, but basically they don't want to get involved unless you receive nothing for your money (in other words, even if it isn't what you ordered), there is a time limit of 45 days to dispute a payment/register a complaint, and they freeze your account if there are disputes. I don't recall all the individual details that I have read about, but those are the most common ones

Ill have to make some calls

I dont mean planment plans

I will try to get more info on the problem. All I know is I asked a friend to help me sale and ship a snake because i never have done that before and they said that they got rid of their paypal account because everyone was having problems with paypal. I didn't ask why.
I just want peopls opinion on paypal so I know if its OK to set up an account or not.

What do you want to buy, Scott, I take PayPal, lol.
(Just kidding, this isn't the place for that discussion)

I had a personal account for years & had no problems, went to a business account about a 18 months ago. The only problems I have ever had were:
1) a seller gave me the wrong account address, so never took payment. Luckily, it was not a valid email address, so it only took a couple of days to get the money back. They have since rectified this, and if you attempt to send $$ to an unregistered account, it won't go through
2) There was a brief mix up after I changed credit cards once...for some reason, it didn't accept the card (awaiting verification, I think - I changed the card minutes before trying to send payment). That kicked it back to the bank account, which is not my primary account & didn't have the funds. As soon as I realized what happened, I resent payment to the seller, but it took a bit of doing to get it straightened out...and PayPal kept trying to repost the payment (even though they were immediately made aware & had verification that I had resubmitted payment), so I ended up with a couple of bank fees. But that was a one time, freak occurrence

I never had a problem with Paypal when it came to making payments. However, I did have a HUGE problem with hackers always trying to get my info. I constantly would get e-mail notices from what would look like Paypal saying I made a purchase on something I didn't make of course and then would have the little box that would say "if not your purchase" to click on it. It would then go to a site where it wants you to verify all your info and it looks just like the Paypal site. It asked all the questions Paypal would, except than it would ask for your ccv code for the card that you used for your account or your FULL banking info. That is when I would promptly send it all to the spoof site for Paypal. I just got so sick of constantly getting these types of e-mails that I finally closed my account with them. The best part is that I'm still getting e-mails asking my to verify my account.

that problem is far from a PayPal issue - I get them from PayPal, eBay, as well as a variety of banks and credit cards. Hell, my mortgage must get approved at least 4x every week. (I must have awesome credit, lol) The first indicator is that those emails never address you by name, always something generic like Dear XXXXX user/member/cardholder. Just click on full headers and forward them to [email protected], [email protected], etc (some of the credit cards use a different address type). H

Never respons to those PayPal e-mails.
Log into PayPal directly by URL - and anything that needs your attention will be brought to your attention.

I say log in directly by URL because there always is the possibility of a browser exploit that allows a non paypal URL to change the URL string in your web browser.

The fake e-mails from banks/ebay/paypal/etc. are called "phishing" and are the primary cause of fraudulent purchases / identity theft on the web.

Paypal would really not use it if i where you

Alittle over two months ago i shipped a guy in cali a 4700 computer and after he had accepted the package e reported his credit card stolen so i provided paypal with the valid tracking number and 5 days after he got the package shipped it back to me stating he didnt order it to my suprise i opened the package and i got 12 lbs worth of news paper paypal tells me its not there problem basically so i have filed a police report and a report with the fbi

Unfortunately, that can happen with any credit card payment - PayPal, or not.
I am not defending PayPal, or their procedures, in this instance - just recognizing that the situation is not unique to them. If you accept credit cards, this is a very real problem.

Yeah but the fact taht they are telling me its not there problem that he returned me a box full of paper and no computer either way i have hired a lawyer and i will get my money out of paypal one way or another i would just advice not using there service

I have heard similar stories about PayPal not being fair when disputes are issued.

However, any time I make a purchase with PayPal, where the recipient is not well-known to me, I use my credit card to fund the purchase just as "backup". Because if something goes wrong, and PayPal then tries to tell me there is nothing they can do to get my money back, I at least have the option of pursuing it with my credit card company.

With larger-dollar purchases (ie over $500), ESPECIALLY those that happen outside of "ebay-protection-land", I would probably try an escrow service or something like that if I were buying or selling something that expensive. Every payment method out there can be attempted to be scammed.

I have had no problems either accepting payments for the few things I occasionally sell on eBay, or making payments for various purchases through them, though. Not saying they are perfect - sounds like their customer service had gone downhill as they have gotten larger.

We've had a couple of issues with Paypal / eBay owned as well.

One that still sticks in my craw:
I purchased an $200 item off eBay, it arrived broken - beyond use. I contacted the seller - no response. I then contacted eBay and provided pictures of the thing. They contacted the seller - sending my pictures.

The seller went to his ad (still on eBay) and changed the pictures to a different unit (color, etc)!!!!! But I had print-screened the pictures from the eBay ad - so that ploy didn't work. Yet, eBay was still dragging their heels - and I had no refund.

So, I contacted Paypal and they said to send it back and provide them with the proof. I did this, not knowing they alerted the seller of the impending chargeback. When we all had proof the item was returned (signature and all), the seller changed bank accounts and Paypal said I was *s.o.l.*
eBay said he closed his account.

I was out the additional shipping costs too ($38)! Thanks Paypal / eBay - that made really my day!!!!! Aarrgghh, I love throwing good money into a sinkhole! :ack2:

But... it's one of the most popular ways to exchange $$ via the internet - so we continue to use them.
