  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I might not be the best person to bring this up, since I've gotten seven warning points for crossing the line yelling about things that bugged me...

But here's going for eight!

This Ratrace person who spammed the HELL out of the classifieds section today, with at LEAST sixteen copies of the same message for an upcoming show has got to be the dumbest bastard who ever lived!

There was just a thread a few days ago about a person complaining because they had three or four copies of the same ad that got deleted and warning points granted...

How STUPID do you have to be to advertise in EVERY forum when the item isn't even remotely related?!

Maybe it's just because it's really clear what constitutes shotgun advertising and spamming... It's not something that can be questionable.

Maybe it's because a list of eighteen identical ads came up with the "See New Posts" function...

But it's DAMN ANNOYING to end up seeing that kind of IGNORANT CRAP when it's so blatantly against the rules of the site.

8-13?

I dont know could be any number of in there. But then again its sound off so maybe you could get a volume discount. LOL

But hey I agree there is a place for things and that isnt it.

I don't doubt that the person who posted the multiple ads will receive a warning from the Webslave. In the interim, I cleaned up the forums a bit by deleteing several of the duplicate posts.

Call me a softie, but I chose to leave two of the posts, and relocate them to the GBD and Events forums.

I didn't see the posts that prompted Seamus' rant but I can agree with him. What I love is people who don't follow the rules that are out there for them to read and then they get upset when they are called on it. I have absolutly no sympathy for them whatsoever, and I think the person in quuestion should get a warning point for EVERY inappropriate forum he placed his post in.

LOL

Heck,
I had three people attack me in the Boas Classifieds forum because I posted a thank you message to the staff of Fauna and to all the people here on the forums who had responded to me with helpful advice. Now granted I did it within the thread where I was trying to sell the snakes and I told the folks that they were sold and I suppose that if I were sitting there with snakes for sale that hadn't sold and someone posted a thank you/sold post to the thread it might chap my hide a little too, but I wouldn't be a smart arse about it! Of course I don't have a little Napolean complex either, I once did, but then I grew up. But I agree with you on this mass spamming crap, I hate it on the forums almost as much as I hate Charter.net for allowing them to send all that crap to my email inbox, all the while allowing the spammers to snag my address (I wonder how much they paid for that and could I be reimbursed?) LOL Not bloddy likely.

Like you I didn't follow the rules to the letter either and if a moderator had asked me to remove the thread or had warned me, yes I would have done so post haste, but it was a couple neonate members and one full member reminding me that I was breaking the rules by posting a 'thank you' and not deleting a thread.... one wonders if while they were criticizing my breaking the rules, if it ever occured to them that this is the reason the staff put the little 'report this post to a moderator' clickable right there at the bottom of the post area? But I digress :D

Tay (who is glad to see Seamus again and wonders how he's doing these days?)

So... "Tay" who is John D. Shenkel?

Perhaps it's just my faulty memory but... I have no idea who you are or why you would be glad to see me.

I also remember the thread you're speaking of in the boa classifieds and I believe you were in the wrong. People very politely pointed out a few rules which you were breaking, your responses were rude and uncalled for. Rich has frequently condoned individual members pointing out site rules that other posters may have missed and your reply was way out of line.

Good question.

Its hard to be credible when you post using different names.

I too seen the BS in the Boa classifieds, your were informed about the rules, then you started throwing a tantrum.

Sophia. You obviously havent grown up. the same comment you made on the Boa thread your again making of a member.

Of course I don't have a little Napolean complex either, I once did, but then I grew up.

And keep in mind the little names under the name you know Neonate , full member doesnt mean a thing some of these people may have only made a few post but could have been lurking for a long time and possibly are very good people in the reptile community you could learn from. But Name calling and the such well get you nothing but closed doors when you start asking for help.

I am glad to see the book, err I mean thread was finally deleted. Probably no doubt by someone other then the posters own hands..

That post actually got me to looking and I noticed that ads are still up from March of 03, shouldn't they be deleted? just curious.

It is kind of funny to me that Tay chose a thread where people were talking about others not being able to follow the rules to post, considering "SophiaGroup" did the rule breaking" .I also find it interesting that Tay doesn't seem to like spam, and yet they are the only person I have gotten unwanted, unsolicited email from through fauna.

Anyone else remember a little forum called "Serpents of the morning star?" I learned of that one about a year and a half ago through an email sent to me by them.

It was at www.morning.sophia.cgi, or something like that, and Tay was one of the moderators or owners. I see that the forum is no longer up, and a don't even have to wonder why.
