• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is it just me, or does it tick off anyone else when you open an ad that you're interested in, you read all the details and get to the bottom of the ad to find:

"Local pick up only, no shipping"
:hot: :hot: :hot:

PEOPLE, PLEASE! How about putting that info in the title of your ad, or at the very least,
MAKE IT THE FIRST LINE!

I am getting old and can not afford to waste the few precious minutes that it may take me to get through your ad. :mad: I treasure every minute I have, please don't make me unnecessarily waste them by going through your ad completely only to find out that you won't ship to me!
No, I do not feel that this was a waste of precious minutes. This was constructive. Venting is a good thing--it cleanses the soul, or the mind, or something to that effect! :yesnod:
Thank you. I feel a little better now...or at least I will when I get a few more cups of coffee in me! :sleeping:

Hadn't thought about that...maybe I'll start sending them long, drawn-out pm's asking them all kinds of questions. Then when they get to the end, put "oh never mind..."

I hate that too but not as much as " E-mail for pics". Is there a problem with maybe adding a pic or two to whet my appetite?

:iagree::iagree:

FULLY agree! Just post the photo. Anyone interested will want to see the animal in question. So why not just post it?

If an ad doesn't have a photo.

I move on to a different ad.

Me, too!

I do the same - :yesnod: - if you can't be bothered to post a photo, I'm not wasting my time. If you take the time to post the ad, it doesn't take but less than a minute to add the photo.
Besides, statistics show (according to eBay) that items with photos sell faster than those without!

Are YOU the person that's been emailing me??

The "email for photos" is a great one to gripe about. These days, one almost can't help but wonder WHY they won't just post them to be viewed with the ad. Using somebody else's pics seems to be a common thing lately (though a surprising number of people have no qualms about posting those in ads). There are a couple of forums I visit that I won't post photos on for various reasons - but I don't advertise there, either. This site is pretty accommodating, in that we have the option of posting attachments or s (I, for one, dislike messing with photo hosting as a rule...I'd much rather just attach it)
I'm usually as hardline as anybody about just moving on if the pics aren't there, or at least readily accessible via link...but, occasionally, I'll bite the bullet and ask for pics.

Advertising Pet Peeves? Add anonymous sellers with generic locations to the list. It's surprising how many people will actually refuse to give their names when asked, even when that decision is a deal breaker.

Now, Harald...

Are YOU the person that's been emailing me??
Not yet, but if you are one of these people, I WILL! :rofl:
Maybe they are just other aging individuals looking for someone to talk to? :rolleyes:

I'm one of the most private people I know, but yeah, if there seems to be an air of cloak & dagger about it, count me out! Of course, it could just be that they have something to hide, maybe? I don't do business with shady characters...:NoNo:

LOL! The one time I asked a seller for a full name it turned out to be Sal Tornebe (sp).He didn't give it so I started a BOI thread and found out who it was.
