Petopia Pets (Brent) Bad guy!

I live in richmond as well and have my own story to recount. I have been to the store and am in full agreement that the animals are in horrible conditions. no heat on the beardies, and a dreadfully small tank for their two large tegus. There are fecies in all of the cages, and many of the cages are very small for the animals they hold. He openly admitted that one of the animals he was selling ( a jacksons chameleon) was in horrible condition, but still had the animal for sale. Brent let me know about a gecko shipment he was supposedly having coming in over two months ago. Since i was local i did not put any money down, but was told atleast 5 different dates that he expected the geckos to come in. I was about to leave the house on one of these days, as he had told me the night before the animals would be there, and was informed that something had gone wrong with shipping. After that point, i received no response for a number of weeks, and then finally was informed that if i wanted the geckos so bad, i could go to africa myself and get them ( many explitives were used) My recommendation is that brents word be taken with a grain of salt, and that the animals he is selling should not be purchased under any circumstances.

I have done a good amount of biz. w/Petopia Pets & have had little if no problem. Though I'm sorry to hear of this issue. I must say I've been nothing short of satisfied w/them. I hope things get worked out. I'm sure this was a 1 time mishap

Also "GECKODUDE" If this so called "'Jackson Chameleon" was WHY DID YOU BUY IT??? and every bearded dragon we have has a heat lamp and a UV strip thank you very much, and the tegus are in a 150 or 200 gallon aquarium, while we are getting a custom made tank built for them becuase of their size.

if you remember correctly i passed over the animal that you noted as being unhealthy. The tegus have been in the tank you mentioned for months, and its obvious they are in cramped conditions. also brent you may want to tell your actual age, since everyone has already been informed that you are 16, not 26.

my few thoughts on the matter...

From the personal experiences that people on this thread have shared, and your comments to the criticism, it sounds like you, and your mom, need to close the store ,read more books on reptile care, save some money for the proper equipment needed to care for your animals, and then, reopen your store.(with some help from herpers that aren't afraid of the snakes ).That is just my opinion,but I will admit, I am kinda spoiled because our local reptile shop, you could eat off the floor, and my friends don't let the snake finish the bowel movement before they are cleaning the cage.They hold animals that anyone else would have listed as top notch,simply because they say "yeah but I can have him looking better" I can give you their number(after I ok it with them) if you need advise!!!

posted classifieds on kingsnake.com selling geckos in december of 06.
I ordered 2.2 Chondrodactylus angulifer, 0.2 Tarentola chazalea, 1.1 Hemitheconyx taylori and was told the total would be $150.00 plus $50.00 shipping.
I paid the $200.00 in full in the third week of december, the reptiles would be send during the first half of January.
After 2 months (during which time i repeatedly called to ask where the geckos were) i was finally told the geckos would not be sent because he did not have any, nor ever had them in the first place. I agreed to work with him, giving him the benefit of the doubt, and get some other reptiles from him instead in the amount of the $150.00 and he promised to send me a list; this never happened.
Despite many, so many e-mails, phonecalls and more e-mails, Petopia now, almost 5 months after i paid them, refuses to acknowledge i ever paid them anything and refuses to send me any reptiles or refund my money, thus very effectively STEALING $200.00 from me.

The message is clear; these people are thieves, cheats and liars.
Do not do business with them!!!!!!!!

If i do not get satisfaction within 5 business days, i shall lodge official complaints with:
FBI Internet Fraud Complaint Centre
'Scambusters'
the National Fraud Information Center
Better Business Bureau in Midlothian, VA
The local law-enforcement authorities in Midlothian, VA
Attorney-General for VA

Marc sorry to hear about your bad transaction. I would have to agree with Wes file your report now. Brent has shown in the past he has no remorse for his actions. I would do whatever it takes to get my money back. His mother needs to put him in check.....

You should not bash someone when you don't know what your talking about. I have your name and a copy of your email. Do Not Come Into My Store Again, I will also contact my attorney and file a deferamtion per say suit againist you. I will also tell all the other pet stores about you as we are all friends.! We rescue alot of abused and neglected animals and take care of them with our own money.

Well, it is not hard for me to believe. If you misrepresent reptiles and run very poor business practices, then this should be expected.
