• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone had any dealings with Phil Frank of the company called Franktiles?
I bought some softshell turtles from this guy about two months ago. From no fault from Phil, two of the animals died. Apparently I was feeding them too much and too often. At first I was satisfied with a solution provided by Phil as to a better schedule of feeding. We decided to try three more turtles and started to contact Phil via email. After numerous attempts, he finally replied. I thought maybe he didn't like my emails or whatever so I got my wife to message him. He replied with a message that he didn't have time to "chase people around who in practice didn't seem serious". Well, we have been nothing but serious and only wanted to buy more turtles from this guy.
After a few more emails, Phil messaged my wife to " send the money and he would schedule a shipment". We sent the money via PayPal a half hour after he messaged us. Now it has been a day and a half and we have heard absolutely nothing from Phil. We are afraid to message him again for fear he will either blow us off or just send the two most inferior animals he can find just to spite us. My wife and I are in our late 50's early 60's and we are tired of being treated like kids. All I have to say is watch out what you say to Phil. He might misconstrue your words and cop an attitude against you.

It sounds like the relationship has soured. I would just get a refund at this point. Maybe see if you can find a number and call the guy up. Otherwise if all contact attempts fail, do a chargeback or initiate other refund process depending on how the payment was sent. I would be sure to send an email letting him know you're canceling, you don't want him to send the shipment, you do a refund procedure, then have to send payment again or something lol

If someone has inconsistent communication, that's usually a sign that you don't want to go any further with things. They could be busy, could be on the fence about you as a customer, or any other possibility, but whatever it is it probably will result in more headache than it is worth.

Actually, I was in MI for 6 days and just returned do needless to say I have been EXTREMELY busy.
No personal problems with these two and actually I DID respond to each and every email but as is now so common, AOL gets rejected by a good % of people I respond to.
In my defense of the problem with my opinion of a customer not being serious was that they had stated they would make payment and it didn't happen.....probably because they did not receive a response from my AOL email! But it is becoming obvious to me that this is what has been happening.
As far as not sending the turtles, they had been emsiling me updates on the weather where they live and asking for specific days bit between the lack or receiving my emails, me being out of town most of June and this last week of July.
I plan to ship next week as I have other orders to send out as well and my intention was not to send the dredges but the best turtles I had.
Honestly, these two have shown that they are very interested in my turtles and personally I like to see my best hatchlings go to local customers and not wholesalersp

At this point I would like to give Phil the benefit of the doubt. I know the internet has its problems and I guess we were the victims of a network error. I (we two) look forward to receiving two Pallid Softshell turtles that were paid for in full two days ago. If I'm not mistaken, I believe we provided a land line analog phone number that you could have used. I can't believe that this modern world has become so jaded that the use of a regular telephone is regarded as antiquated.

I hope we receive our turtles next week (as promised by Phil). I will be back on this Fauna site to give Phil a good report and hope we can do business again since we ARE simple local herpers and NOT wholesalers.

Again, apologies for my email's lack of connectivity but since you nor I knew that our emails were being lost the presumption on my part was you did get ALL my emails and I was getting ALL yours so I did not think a phone call was necessary until just today when after reading your post I postulated that we were being robbed of our emails by spam filters and such.
Regardless, my intentions were and are to send your turtles out next Monday and that they will be the two nicest I have ( which will be a trick because they are all very nice)!
Got 8 more eggs out of the ground today so I will have about 40, 2015 hatchlings this fall.

They arrived at 9:30 AM. Absolutely beautiful! If you ever run into Gulf Coast Smooths, please keep me in mind. I'm going to try to go back to Alabama in September. If YOU have any requests,,,,,let me know.

The OP lists his location as MD, and the subject of the thread lists his as FL; yet they both used the term "local". Wonder which one is showing accurate information...

I have done business with Phil. He followed up with me when I was waiting for something of his to become available. I have made sure to refer people to him as well, so that means I was plenty pleased with what I was sent, how it was sent, and the communication throughout.
